I had the unfortunate experience of being turned away at this store that I have been a customer at for 6 years, as the new owner will not notarize ANY legal documents that have to do with property, contracts, wills or trusts, citing the "liability risk". I called on Saturday June 21 and was told the notary would be there today June 22nd from 11-3pm. When I arrived the notary whom informed he is the new owner immediately asked me what the form was for but did not want to look at the form. I told him it was a letter for my timeshare association confirming the transfer of my deed to my best friend (the new owner). The notary said that he doesn't sign letters that have to do with timeshares and to go to the Westchester county clerks office. I asked him why I needed a "special" notary to sign a letter when this is a service that this store had provided for years for all of my legal documents. I mean the only documents you need to have notarized are legal documents so what purpose is there for a notary who doesn't notarize legal documents?????? I left and spoke to my husband who was waiting in the car and was a notary and paralegal for many years. He confirmed that a notary signature is just attesting to the identity of the person signing- they are not providing any legal advice, etc so there is no liability for them. I went back to the store and spoke to the notary/owner again and even showed him the UPS store website for his location and that the website states that they notarize legal documents including contracts, wills, trusts, etc. He said the website is " a generic website and that he was not doing it " referring to signing my document. I never had this issue with the prior owner and it's disappointing that this was my introduction to the new owner. I will no longer be a customer here and will be telling all of my friends and neighbors to choose a different UPS store. This is bad customer service and this owner really didn't seem to care...
Read moreThe new owners of this location have really made the experience go down hill. I understand you don’t expect 5-star service at a UPS, but the condescending tone and intrusiveness are unmatched. The front desk person talked to me like I’m an idiot. I know how to add an attachment to an email - I work in corporate. Something as simple as making an Amazon return or printing something has become a rage-inducing task due to the poor customer service here. Would you like some patronizing with your postage? Front desk people act like they can’t be bothered to help you - as if that’s not the whole purpose of the store. I second what others have said that they will look at your packages and mail, inquire about about the purpose of court docs etc. It’s not information they need to know. I never had any issues under the previous owners, even though the service could be slow. I won’t be coming here again if I...
Read moreI went into UPS today to ship my Breville Smart Oven which needed repairs. After waiting patiently for over 30 minutes to ship my package, when I got to the counter, the older woman tried to tell me that I had to pay for the packaging. I told her that Breville informed me that packaging was included and that if she would just scan the bar code it would clear everything up. She didn’t even look at my bar code to consider the fact that she might be wrong. Instead, she chose to be rude to me and embarrass me in front of the rest of the customers. I felt unwelcomed as soon as I started talking to her. The young Asian associate even tried to step in to assist me and both owners told her not to. It was clear that I as a black man was not welcomed in this UPS store. In a city as diverse as New York, this couple needs to reassess their...
