Bird Jungle — Local services in Town of Greenburgh

Update: I stopped in there a few years ago and had given them 1 star. (See explanation below). I don’t know if this place is under new ownership? But I had a pleasant surprise when I went in to ask where I could find wild bird seed. Obviously they do not carry it as they cater to pet birds, but the guy at the counter was super helpful. After he told me the best places to find good quality seed, I asked about some pet birds I was looking into as possibly getting in the future. I had 3 ideas, and he was so knowledgeable. He told me what birds were good for my home/family, and which were not. He was very honest, and didn’t just try to sell me the most expensive bird in the store. He told me a list of 5 different birds of all price points, price, and care cost on average. He explained cage sizes, environments such as the kitchen which are not good to keep birds in. I say the kitchen because there are fumes given off from non-stick cookware that can be toxic to birds. He also discussed pros and cons of a younger versus an older bird on bonding with their caregivers, interactions with other animals, etc. I will definitely give them another shot when I’m ready to get my pet bird.

Original Post: I was in here looking and got there 45 minutes before closing. The birds were already locked up for the night. It was dirty, the staff behind the desk quickly look down and avoided contact. Then the guy cleaning just kept telling us that they were closing. They were supposed to be opened until 8pm. I was so annoyed that no one approached us to ask if we had questions, etc. we easily could have purchased a bird, and had intended to on entering. I would rather give my money to anyone else. I used to be a client over 10 years ago when we had birds. I don’t know how they are still in business. Maybe because they are the only bird store around in...

I thought this place is responsible leaving your bird on their watch but don't think so. I left my bird for two days and when I picked him up he couldn’t fly. I don’t trim he’s wing so he can fly around the house. And guess what they clipped his wings without my knowledge. When I called to ask the employee wouldn’t listen and she told me that they can’t do anything. I know can’t attaché his wings back but she didn’t want to even acknowledge that they did or even by mistake. I’m worried that my bird so used to flying he could get hurt. Be aware when you put your bird up for boarding. The first image is before, and the second image is after.

It’s ridiculous when I informed the owner he was more wry about his review than my bird. My bird is stress and not coming out of his cage. The owner asks me to prove it instead. I live hour and half away and I don’t want to give more stress to the bird. I will go to his( bird) vet and get examine. I thought the owner would at least say “I will check into or hope the bird will be ok” instead he asks me to send a bird before and after photos I wrote a review to help other bird owner so they don’t have to go...

Bought a beautiful Blue and God Macaw for my husband for our 10th anniversary. Our macaw was such an amazing Parrot. We fell in love with her and was able to spend a few months with her until she fell in her cage and died. Apparently our little beauty had PDD disease. We called the store to give them a heads up that our bird had a disease. The first thing we were told was they do not give refunds. We did not call to ask for a refund we called to simply let the store know they sold us a Parrot that had a disease and maybe they should offer genetic testing before selling Parrots. Our three children are extremely devastated about our beautiful girl. Please before buying a Macaw from this place have them tested for diseases. On another note We were told " oh it must have been a bad batch of Macaws, we will let the owner know". Our hearts are broken and don't wish this upon anyone that falls in love with an animal.
