I brought my stainless steel fine watch in for what they call a "spa." I was "sold" on the phone by one of their employees that I could have my watch polished without the hassle of going to the manufacturer in NYC and for considerably less money. Based on their reviews I gave it a shot. It was a big mistake.
While everyone at D'Erricho's two locations is very pleasant, do not bring a valuable timepiece here. The polisher/jeweler, who I did not meet, had no regard for the integrity of the watch's multiple finishes and returned it to me with a single finish. When I brought this to my salesperson's attention he took it back to the jeweler and the issue was corrected. It wasn't great, but it was to my satisfaction. When the watch was handed to me it was hot. I brought this to my salesperson's attention also. He explained it was from the friction of the polisher and assured me it would be fine. This concerned me, but I am not a jeweler and the watch did look good, so I paid their fee and left. A few days later the watch stopped keeping time.
When I brought it back to them, Sal, an owner volunteered to troubleshoot the watch and I left it with him. Hours later he confirmed the watch wasn't keeping time and told me he would have it diagnosed.
Three weeks later, when I had no diagnosis, I called to inquire. I was referred to their watch liaison, Dana, who upon hearing that I wanted to pick up the watch to bring it to the manufacturer, began to rave about the quality of repair I would receive by the watch maker they use. She explained to me she should have been called sooner, apologized and said that the watch just needed a "service." I get these fine timepieces can sometimes require an overhaul but I had this watch with nary an issue for over ten years. Still, the watch didn't work. I explained to her I felt the need for repair was due to the initial handling during the "spa" and was offered only consideration for the price of the spa, but not for the watch's repair and was promised a one week turn around. We then had a long conversation about a new strap for the watch and she said she could produce it. I acquiesced due to convenience and the promised turn around and that she could produce a new strap.
None of it came to pass. The turn around time of a week was a made up story, probably to keep my business, they never produced the straps as I requested and 8 weeks and $775.00 later I got my watch back in working condition. I hope it continues to work.
Disappointed by the service I received and its exorbitant expense, I asked to speak to the owner. I told him of my experience and disappointment and he, offered no consideration, but told me if I needed jewelry, he could help me out there. He conceded I should never have been promised the things Dana promised and made apologies all around.
Again everyone at D'Errco's is very nice, but there is no way I would do business with them again. As I parted company from the owners back office, he told me that the watch repair portion of his business was a headache for them and if he could do away with it he would. I thought to myself. "if you don't want to do it, then don't. It's your customer's that suffer from that." I found no solace in the remark, only frustration from feeling duped into spending a ton of money that the manufacturer, Cartier, would have handled better and probably cheaper.
Don't bring your watch here! The owner admitted the watch repair portion of his business was troublesome. Their "heart's" not in it.
Update. In October 2023 the watch stopped working. I brought to Cartier who put no parts in, but “serviced” it for $200 less than I paid and ultimately wasted with D’Erricho jewelers. Don’t make the same mistake i did. service your fine watch with the manufacturer not...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited this establishment twice for an engagement ring. The first time, an older gentleman assisted us, took us to the back for the standard diamond CCC lecture, and then begrudgingly allowed me to try on a few ring styles. When I mentioned I wasn’t 100% sure of my ring size, he suggested I use an app to measure my finger instead of bringing out the ring gauge, which would have taken less than a minute. We felt uncomfortable and as though we were not being taken seriously following the interaction. The second time we went back to obtain a quote for a custom ring with a family heirloom center stone that we were hoping to re-set. Upon our first visit, we were told that D’Errico specialized in made-to-order custom rings, and we wanted to give this place a second chance, especially since they had such positive reviews. This time we were assisted by a different salesperson. When we showed him a picture of the ring we were hoping to create, he did not seem to understand and instead showed us pre-made settings that were not close to our vision. He seemed rushed and unwilling to take the time to fully assist us. When we asked for a quote for two 0.5ct pear shaped diamonds, he told us they would cost $5,000 if lab grown and $10,000 for natural. It seemed as though he made these prices up and did not know what he was talking about, as these prices are clearly beyond fair market value. The interaction, yet again, left us feeling uncomfortable and disrespected.
For engagement ring shoppers: steer clear...
Read moreD’Errico in Scarsdale damaged my stone, provided terrible customer service, and now refuse to communicate with me.
I brought a beautiful Tanzanite into the store in November 2024. I bought the stone while on vacation, and wanted to have it turned into a ring. I had heard good things about D’Errico from neighbors. Now more than six months later, I have experienced a series of errors, mistakes, and poor communications. First, they tried to provide me with a ring where the gold was so thin that you could see through it. I asked them to address this, and the next time I saw the ring, the stone was badly damaged. I pointed it out, and they told me it was not damage, but messy epoxy that needed to be cleaned up. After three “clean up” attempts, the stone is still damaged. So they changed the story - now the faults I see are not to the surface of the stone but are rather internal natural defects. They are gaslighting me.
D’Errico insisted on sending the stone out for GIA certification, saying that GIA would be able to tell if defects are part of the stone or were a result of damage from the store. The D’Errico team received the report 2 weeks ago (5/16/25), and they have GHOSTED me since then. I have called and texted multiple times. I have been sent to voicemail. I have been told the owner will call me.
I. Am. Still. Waiting.
I have given them every opportunity to do the right thing, and now truly feel my only option is to write this review.
Do not do...
