Had such an unfortunate experience here. I would hesitate to rate it highly. The owner's behavior was disappointing, very rude/ aggressive toned. Not to mention way over priced. 100% taking advantage of customers charging high prices because of the location, has absolutely nothing to do with quality of work.
I visited the shop for a dress alteration (hemming at the bottom and a little take in at the top) owner wasn’t in at the time, so the lady who pinned my dress told me after the fact, that she’d call me to let me know the price because she was new and didn’t know how much to charge me.
I was contacted by the owner a day or two later with a quote exceeding $400; for a dress that was purchased for $150 at Kleinfield. I was shocked! When I asked her why so much, I was told it was because she basically had to “make a new dress”. Feeling uneasy about it all, I expressed my desire to come by the shop to pick up my dress to take it elsewhere. I brought my sister with me, which I was so glad I did, because she was able to witness the owners true demeanor.
When we arrived to the shop, we were greeted with such an attitude. After having been yelled at by the owner, I was told I had to pay a $60 fee before before retrieving my dress for wasting her time and pinning the dress. I didn’t fight it and paid her the $60. Curiously, once the payment was made the owner began removing the pins off my dress, which seems counterintuitive being that I just paid for the pining service. I had to tell her to stop before she ruined my dress.
Reflecting on the experience, I ultimately entrusted my dress to a different tailor in Ardsley. They had to readjust the pins on the dress and address a yellow chalk stain on the bottom of the dress, which they found surprising as white chalk would have been more appropriate to use. I paid $150 for these alterations and it was done within 3 days. I have since become a loyal customer. So I guess I owe you a thank you for that. And best part, the owner treats her customers with respect, like their own family or friends.
Please note that this incident occurred some time ago, and I apologize for the delay in sharing my feedback. This experience is the worst I’ve ever had at any establishment, and one I will...
Read moreMy experience with Geraldina was absolutely horrible. She is extremely rude and unprofessional. When I asked a simple question about her pricing, she got defensive and nasty. She quoted me $1300 just to add lining and tighten my dress, claiming she had to “take it apart.” But when I mentioned that she quoted a family member $400 for a wedding dress, she smugly said she “does favors for people if she feels like it.” On top of that, she talks badly about other designers and dresses to make you feel like something is wrong with yours—just so she can upcharge you for additional work. The most ridiculous person I’ve ever dealt with. 10/10 do NOT recommend. Save your time and money.
UPDATE.
I want to address Geraldina’s false claims directly. Not only did I not spend even close to an hour there.. But, at no point was I informed of a consultation or fitting fee..never. Why would I be expected to pay just to try on my own dress? I dress she did no work to? I was fully prepared to pay the deposit toward the quoted work, despite the high estimate. However, as I was preparing to do so, Geraldina approached me in an unprofessional and insulting manner, implying I couldn’t afford the service and suggesting I go elsewhere.
I made it clear-repeatedly- that I was simply asking questions, which is well within my right. Instead of responding professionally, she raised her voice and became increasingly hostile. So I left. No service was performed, and I would never hand over hundreds of dollars to someone who treats clients with such disrespect. Clearly money hungry, she mentioned that there is also a consultation fee as I was walking out of the door. What an absolute joke.
Her responses to other negative reviews speak volumes. there’s a consistent pattern of unprofessionalism and refusal to take accountability. Best of luck to anyone who chooses to work with...
Read moreDo not bring your wedding dress here. I was charged $1300 for them to cut off the front hem of my dress (which was not the plan to shorten it), for them to take in the dress, add the laziest bustle I’ve ever seen (just one eyelet hook and a piece of string to hang it on) and sew in what I brought as removable straps. I came in about 4 times to try on my dress with the seamstress and each time, something had been done that was not discussed. First, they cut off the front hem (see photos) to shorten the dress. After doing that, they then decided to take the dress in at the waist, thus negating having to cut the hem at all! Next, they added lace cups, which I didn’t mind all that much. But the lace they used was cheap and a completely different color than my ivory dress. At all of my 4 appointments, I asked them to charge the removable straps from an elastic loop and button, to snaps/fasteners. After they had my dress for almost 7 months, I picked it up for the final fitting and the straps has been sewn in. I had to take the dress back and ask AGAIN for snaps. Thankfully the one seamstress there who actually listened to me, was able to add in the snaps in 1 weeks. What I should have done then was check the snaps and see that the male part of the snap was left IN THE DRESS. Unfortunately, I didn’t do that and only discovered while dancing at my wedding that the remaining part of the snap was ripping up my back. So now I have photos of my back covered in tape from my wedding because a “professional seamstress” didn’t think to make my dress functional. I deeply regret bringing my dress here. I wasted my time and money on...
