I received yet another call from Ethan Allen of Garden City that my dinning room furniture will be once again delayed until after May 30th! I have said several times that I do not want partial delivery of a table and 2 chairs. What dinner can I have with only 2 chairs nor am I interested in having the missing chairs be filled in with mismatch chairs. If I wanted a dining room set with mismatched chairs I would have purchased that. It is now the end of another month and to be told that it’s now again delayed for another month is ridiculous. For a huge and prestigious company like Ethan Allen to have customers waiting for months for delivery of chairs is not only unacceptable but unbelievable or is it only certain customers that have to wait longer than others. I chose a company that I believed was reputable and produced quality furniture but after my first experience with Ethan Allen I will never do much as purchase a candle stick holder let alone anything else. After spending over 30 thousand dollars in furniture and then have to wait months for chairs is ridiculous for a company of this caliber. Then to be told that it because the furniture is customed made is the reason for the delay when I know that other furniture stores that also do custom made orders are shipping their orders on time is also insulting because I know that’s also not true so what else are you lying to me about. My Easter plans were ruined because of my delayed furniture and now I also will not be able to enjoy my Mother’s Day in my new home with my family and friends. Yet again. This whole experience has just been a nightmare and I will let every friend, family member, coworker, church member or organization that I am involved in as well as all social media platforms available to me know of my experience with Ethan Allen. I will also let everyone know not to purchase any dining room furniture from Ethan Allen unless they are willing to wait 4 or more months or simply not even know when their furniture will be delivered because I do not want anyone to have to experience what I am...
Read moreWish I could give less than one star! The worst customer service imaginable. In addition to another chair that came damaged and had to be repaired, we ordered a $2600 wing back chair that was beautiful in the showroom. When it arrived in November, it was not at all like the floor model or any other picture of the chair we could find in all of their catalogs. Trying to get customer service to pick up the chair was a nightmare. After two months, they finally told us that they received the replacement fabric (why they didn't have the fabric in stock I will never know) and that they would come get the chair in late February. THREE WEEKS after they picked up the chair, we received a phone call stating that the replacement fabric they had ordered was not usable, and that the whole process will be delayed further because they have to reorder the fabric!! Would it not be advisable to check the fabric when it arrived to see that it was usable? And, they had the chair for three weeks - it took them that long to figure out the fabric was not usable?? It is now four months since the original delivery of our furniture and we still have no idea when we will actually get our chair. Words cannot describe the absolute frustration with this company's horrific customer service. STAY FAR AWAY FROM ETHAN ALLEN - they are no longer a company of quality and integrity. I cannot understand many of the other Google reviews, if you read reviews on other sites (e.g. the Better Business Bureau), as I should have, you will get the real story on this company.
UPDATE: They finally "fixed" the chair (now nearly 6 months since the original delivery) and delivered it this morning. However, the chair is STILL not as depicted and the stitching is horrible - it looks like they rushed it all and gave no thought to checking the final product before it went out the door again. This chair should have been perfect with all the time they had to resolve the issues - a complete failure on their part. My previous recommendation stands... STAY FAR AWAY FROM...
Read moreCan not believe Ethan Allen asked me to share my experience on Google given our circumstance. But, ok, they requested it.
We purchased a large sectional leather couch from them last January or February. Waited the standard number of weeks for it to arrive. Delivery was fine but none of the cushions were of the same size. The seat cushions were smaller than the back cushions and the corner cushions didn’t fit at all. We lived for months with the corner cushion set vertically. Otherwise none of the cushions fit on the sofa.
Repair came and sent pictures to their repair department who decided they would replace only some of the cushions. Back and forth for months with different cushions, none of which worked. Finally, they replaced the entire couch.
The new couch was better but for a $14,000 couch, I would expect the cushions to be of the same size, not have gaps and be ill fitting. The repair department said it's within their standard despite the repair person and local store personnel agreeing with us.
The local store personnel tried to help and did refund 25% but it's still an expensive couch even at the refunded rate.
The store designer did fail by not advising us that the leather we selected can not be cleaned. You heard that. You can not even spot clean the couch. If it gets stained, the cleaning instructions advise you to let the stain become one with the couch. When I shared this with the designer, she was sure there must be a way to clean the couch and was going to get back to me. I guess since I haven't heard back, there is no way to clean it.
We furnished our entire first floor having purchased from Arhaus, Crate and Barrel, Ballard and Bassett in addition to Ethan Allen. Those other stores were all wonderful and we will be shopping them to replace the couch. Needless to say, we won't be back...
