Im very much dissapointed with Macy’s experience this time. This I’m talking about 02/13/2021 when I went to get the dresses at the top floor wherein we were at the line at 8:40pm and the store was about to close so we were rushing but the associate who was ringing us. Don’t know if she was under training or what but when she rang one of my relative first cause she had 6-7 dresses we didnt notice she is scanning it wrong until I rang my clothes and saw my dresses were also being charged overpriced and told her that dress is for $19.92 but she was scanning it 34 some dollars then that thing clicked my mind and I asked my relative to check her order to cause she had those LAST ACT dresses which she scanned for 34 too wherein It should be for 19.92 then after completing my order I asked her to reverse the transaction and ring it back again but then she reversed 4 dresses first and then she is like rest 3 dresses she’ll do it in next transaction which I definitely I didn’t get it and we were so confused. As the total of her dresses were 372 something after she revered 4 dresses first everything got messed up. Also keeping in mind it was past 9pm when the Mall gets close. I asked her to call the manager and to change the price of the dresses she overpriced. She was not answering me but doing what she was supposed to do. She was scanning the price of the dress which we never bought. One of the dress we wanted to buy which actually my relative loved it that dress didnt had a code to scan which she previously scanned and processed now refused to process saying we cannot scan this product now cause it doesnt have a barcode I argues with the manager then how come the associate previously charged her and now she is refusing. So both the manager and associate was misbehaving and refusing to give that dress and repetitively saying that the store is closed we cannot do anything and what not and later they never even escort us as the Macys and the mall was closed we were locked inside and security guard came and ask us to walk all the way towards the other direction cause all the sides were closed and it was raining outside and we had so many bags and 3 ladies together walked from macys parking to all the way purple parking lot. I need the answer from the Macy’s management team for this. Otherwise its gonna be...
Read moreRoosevelt Field 2nd floor Please stop hiring grumpy, mean women that have no customer service etiquette or skills. I always enter on the 2nd floor by the entrance by Ballard Designs furniture store. I use the register by where Alfani and Vince Camuto clothes are, close to where the furrier used to be. It's always the same set of ladies there during the day shift. I was in today to return 3 items. I had a young, new girl (#11458936), she advised me that 2 items were past the return date, they were purchased 37 days ago. I shared I never heard this before, I thought it was 60 days. I asked can in get a store credit, she said "she's new, and had to ask the lady next to her (mean, always angry lady (#11329673), I had her a few days prior for a transaction. This lady asked if it was purchased on line or in the store (what difference did that make?) I told her on line. She said it's 37 days since purchased and maybe I can go upstairs and they will do it for me. Really???? So that indicated to me, it's possible. I asked her for a manager, she said a manager won't always give me what i want. I told her it's not what i want. It's a question i would like answered, can I get store credit? So I went upstairs, gave the items to Brian (#11257160), who stated its 37 days, but since the return policy changed recently, he"ll honor the return. I didn't have to ask, beg, or argue, now THAT is customer service at its best. KUDOS to Brian! I asked him when was it changed? He said a few months ago. From 60 days to 30 days. I knew I wasn't crazy. I'm a platinum customer and have been a customer since 1980. As I was leaving, the mean lady said to me as i was exciting, "did you get it done?", I said "of course", I wention to explain how he had customer service skills and i wanted the new, young associate to hear, how to handle a situation, by not being mean or evil. I told then I'm a platinum customer, but everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. Please don't have these mean women train the new innocent employees. The mean lady went on to ask, did the brown man help me? WHAT? I was uphauled at that question and told her that. Please get her out of customer service. Photo shows the entrance I use to...
Read moreMacy's is our largest retail brand, known for having the latest styles in fashion, beauty, home and beyond, and for hosting America's most beloved holiday events.
Macy's is an American department store chain founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. Rowland Hussey Macy opened four retail dry goods stores between 1843 and 1855. One of them was the original Macy's store in downtown Haverhill, Massachusetts; it opened in 1851 to serve the mill industry employees of the area. They all failed, but he learned from his mistakes. Macy moved to New York City in 1858, to establish a new store named "R. H. Macy & Co."
In 1875, Macy took on two partners, Robert M. Valentine (1850–1879), a nephew; and Abiel T. La Forge (1842–1878) of Wisconsin, who was the husband of a cousin. Macy died in 1877 from inflammatory kidney disease (then known as Bright's disease). La Forge died the following year, and Valentine died in 1879. Ownership of the company remained in the Macy family until 1895, when the Straus brothers, Isidor and Nathan, acquired the company (now called "R. H. Macy & Co.").
In 1902, the flagship store moved uptown to Herald Square at 34th Street and Broadway
In 1912, Isidor Straus died in the sinking of the Titanic at the age of 67 with his wife, Ida.
Macy's operates 450 locations in the country and its territories Puerto Rico and Guam as of 2025. Macy's Herald Square is one of the largest department stores in the world, spanning approximately 1.1 million square feet (100,000 m2) of selling space and covering nearly an entire New York City block Nevertheless The widespread use and convenience of online shopping has led to the decline of offline stores. In February 2024, Macy's announced that up to 150 underperforming stores would close by the end of 2026, with 50 stores closing by the end of 2024. That number was increased to 65 by December. Macy's stated that the closing stores only represented 10% of its total sales.
The original Broadway store was designed by architects De Lemos & Cordes, was built in 1901–02 by the Fuller Company and has a Palladian facade, but has been updated in many details. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978 and designated a National Historic Landmark in...
