Commack Veterinary Center is a quality health care center for your pets. I've been using this center since it first opened as West Hills-East. I've also known Dr. Steinberg from the days he first walked through the doors to practice through his taking ownership of the center. It was obvious from day 1 that Dr Steinberg, a warm and very caring veterinarian, knew his medical field and would stand out among the pack. It was also obvious that he'd one day own and run this wonderful veterinary center. His veterinary facility, now known as Commack Veterinary Center, has not only maintained the quality he'd originally brought to the practice, it has blossomed with the addition of Dr. Cosentino and Dr. Knopf. They are both gems in the veterinary field. My 17 year old Cocker-poo, a regular these days because of several age related issues arising has spent time with each of the doctors and has only received fabulous, thorough, loving care from all three doctors. I'm secure in their diagnoses, their explanations, and recommendations. In addition, starting from the warm greeting given to you and your pet at the front desk through to those hidden behind the doors, this office's support staff are excellent and add to the quality of care pets receive. So, if you're seeking quality healthcare givers that you can trust with the well-being of your pet, you'll be very happy using Commack Veterinary Center. However, I will add, so you do not go in blindly, that their prices are slightly above average for pet care, while still recommending their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe first brought our dog, Capone, into Dr. Bystryās office about five weeks ago at th end of April. Dr. Bystry wasnt there that day & he was treated by Dr. Toad. She felt he had bronchial infection because he was coughing. Bloodwork was taken but we never received the results. Capone was put on antibiotics for a 10 day period.
Capone was not getting better. Our next visit was with Dr. Bystry & he said he would peroform an exray but not on that day because Capone needed to be sedated for an exray. On the third visit, we were told he saw a shadow but Dr. Bystry could not identify it. We were advised to get an air purifyer. This was four weeks into treatment & Dr. Bystry said we would get a call to see how Capone was feeling. We never received a call nor the results of his original bloodwork.
Capone was getting worse & couldnāt breathe & we brought him to the veterinary emergency hospital on May 21 at 1:30 AM. He was rushed in & immediately put on oxygen & they took a scan. As it turns out, Capone had advanced lung cancer in both lungs. He was riddled with cancer & had to be put to sleep.
We are heartbroken but also very angry because this flagrant misdiagnosis of Caponeās condition cost him an additional three weeks of suffering. He should have been put down at the onset of his illness.
This was incompetence at itās height. Donāt bring your pet there. DO GO if you want MANY VISITS THAT DRAIN the pocket but yield nothing for your pet. We are heartbroken & Capone suffered so much...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had to bring my cat in for a UTI the other day and was very very pleased. Before this I had only come for wellness visits, but they way they handled and explained everything dealing with my cat was above and beyond what I would have hoped for. When I called the CSR I spoke with got me scheduled for what worked best for me on the day I needed, and day of (I'm not sure if it was the same person) the CSR was also extremely sweet and welcoming. When I arrived for my appointment they were quick to get me in and get a history of what was going on before grabbing the doctor who also was in promptly. We saw Dr. Knopf for (I believe) the first time that day, she was extremely thorough in her examination and made sure to go over everything while checking him out and asked more detailed questions. I was super appreciative of the fact we're doing Obi Wan's (my kitty) treatment plan in steps and starting with just a urinalysis, and then if the issue progresses/doesn't improve we'll do bloodwork then. I trust this office to not try to take advantage of anyone and only recommend what is best for the patient as well as the client! Even when we were going over medication options she was very willing to give me an oral antibiotic instead of an injection for him because it worked better for my budget. The assistants/technicians were also super helpful, explained everything perfectly, and were so loving and sweet to my baby. I would recommend Commack Vet Center to everyone who has a pet, their entire staff is...
