This store is a bigger, more spacious relative to Home Goods. Tons of storage bins and baskets to help organize your life, and a wide range of interesting accent furniture. Plus everything else you'll need. The merchandising looks more upscale (which is a good thing!) but the prices are comparable to other discount home decor stores (also a good thing!) I can't wait to go back!

A little bit of everything - I liked it. A bit more furniture than HomeGoods - more couches, tables, end tables, ottomans and lamps (and even some bathroom vanities), but generally the same and/or similar kinds of things. Less pots and pans, bedroom and bathroom stuff (towels, comforters) and such than homegoods - but more decorative items and furniture than Homegoods.

This place is my one stop shop for my home decor and miscellaneous stuff. So much to choose from.

There is a review from 5 months ago about the completely unprofessional and rude staff at this store location, clearly no one has learned anything.

I purchased a glider for my newborn nursery after visiting a Homesense in Florida. Sadly, they did not deliver to NY so I was ELATED to find the same one in Commack. Before I even purchased it, I inquired about shipping as I live in Brooklyn. The sales representative said they use a third party person and were “unsure if he makes that far of a trip as most deliveries are local”. They said they don’t call and set it up, they wrote down a name on a post it and said, “after you purchase you can call”. I really wanted this specific glider so I bought it. Upon check out they asked when I would pick it up…I said I wasn’t sure I have to call this name on the post it. I asked if I can call on the spot and they said no, I had to step off the line, call, and come back. But I also could not leave the check out until I provided them a date per their request. The representative wrote in a date for the next day and told me the piece would be on hold for multiple days as it was PURCHASED. I thought great. This was on a Friday.

The third party person said he typically does not make trips to Brooklyn (fair enough). He’ll do it but needs to check his schedule and get back to me. I thought ok no problem. This was on a Saturday.

Sunday, a store manager calls me to say if I don’t pick it up by 9pm it goes back on the floor and I have to come in person for a refund. Now I’m confused, I thought I had a couple of days to figure out how to ship it? The conversation with a MANAGER was disgusting. She said she was unsure how I fabricated such a story about the piece being on hold but it needs to be picked up that day. I told her I was still waiting on this person that THEY referred me too but I can have a family member try and come that week. Again, I thought I had a few days to figure this out, not 24H. In one breath I “fabricated a story”, “clearly misunderstood”, “should have shopped more local to where I live to not cause problems”. How was I supposed to know this would be a problem?

That same day (Sunday), my father went to the store to pick up the glider on my behalf (I am 8 months pregnant). He had the pink purchase slip, the actual store receipt, photos, and my credit card. I called the store ahead of time to let them know that he was coming on my behalf. IT WAS A DISASTER. Similar to how someone below described the process, they were completely disorganized. Told my father there was no way I purchased a piece of furniture and “left it there”, recommended he try HomeDepot instead? And despite having the receipt they would not give him the glider. He asked for a store manager that yelled at him (I heard it over the phone). At this point, I just wanted the money back. There is absolutely no reason for this kind of treatment. The manager said I would have to physically come back in the store for a refund. I said I couldn’t do that, I live in Brooklyn and I’m 8 months pregnant. Why can’t I authorize a refund with my father present who has all of my information? She refused the refund but also refused to release the glider. It felt like a Twilight Zone kind of experience.

At the very last moment, someone (I’m not sure who as I wasn’t there) from the store found THEIR copy of the signed purchase slip and said “fine, take it”. My dad asked to take the flatbed to bring it to his car, he was told no. He said can he have a few minutes then to pull the car up, they said he should have done that to begin with. Just completely nasty.

Maybe the theme is if you are buying be prepared to take it with you THAT moment, as the person below me from a few months ago seems “local” and still had similar issues. I will never return to this store nor recommend to any of our family or friends (who are local on Long Island). A “joyous” purchase for me to complete my newborn nursery turned into an absolute disaster. I will also be sending an email to corporate, there is just no...

Two days ago, I went to pick up items my wife purchased earlier in the day. Completely unorganized and unprofessional. My wife after hearing about my experience, goes with her friend anyway(they both own private practices) to purchase more stuff figuring that experience didn't represent homesense at its best bless her heart. Well I arrived at 5:15 PM and didn't leave until about 7 PM. Naturally there was absolutely no organization of what was ordered and apparently they charged my Wife for items her friend purchased, even though her friend also purchased them. The sales person was completely rude and disrespectful about retrieving items for review my wife shared. I demanded to see a manager when they could not figure out what I was there to pick up even with photos of the items purchased! The manager apologized and promised to refund us for two chairs approximately $59 and $149 given the aggravation and confusion considering the size of the entire order, not to mention our friends and the day before. But wait...there's more. Turns out they sold one of the chairs my wife bought as a pair. So, I was told I could be refunded. I demanded they make good and provide something similar at the same price and found the closest match I could ( $69 original $199 new ). At this point the manager had already handed me off to someone new who was seemingly trying to recapture some integrity. The salesperson asks for two minutes and returns to tell me they can provide them at the price originally agreed since they double sold. Fair I agreed. While I'm now permitted to load my items into my car I learn they chose not to refund the two chairs as originally agreed and merely refunded the price of the two chairs being comped since they double sold( two at $69 rather than $59 and $149 as discussed) . When I attempted to resolve this with the "fixer" salesperson she tells me that isn't what the manager told me! When I demand to see the manager I learn she went home! At that point I insisted she either get her on the phone or we are going by what I say happened considering how obvious this bait and switch move was! She asked me to give her a few minutes and 20 minutes she returns to tell me sorry there isn't anything more they can do and that they were simply wasting more of my time!

The homesense team in commack is a bunch of rude, unprofessional, negligent, incompetent people led by a management team of incompetent liars who expect their shortcomings to be at the customers expense. Buyers beware!

I hope to never ever see any of the people there again or ever have to step foot in that place again! Will be reaching out to corporate considering the amount of time and money spent to be treated...

Just when you think you're getting over your HomeGoods addiction, HomeSense pops up. How is it different from HomeGoods? Well, the concept is supposed to be different - they are supposed to have more lighting, more furniture and more art and more luxury brands. But the question is ARE THEY DIFFERENT? Unfortunately, nope. Except for a bit more lighting (they have a couple of pendants and chandeliers unlike most HGs) they are not any different from other HomeGoods stores. They carry the SAME EXACT things. That promise of more furniture pieces? Everything I've seen here, I've always seen at HGs. Same old cabinets, arm chairs, and ugly dining chairs. And that sucks, because there's a HomeGoods right next door, just a few feet from this one. The only difference I see, HomeSense has less decor items and no kids stuff or bedding. But don't worry, for that stuff, you can just take a short stroll over to the HomeGoods next door. I feel that they need to differentiate themselves from HomeGoods much better - many of the pieces are pretty much what HG offers. Also, according to some articles I've read, they are supposed to have a more of a furniture store layout, but they are pretty much exactly like HGs. If they want to succeed, they need to have more of the big pieces and vary them each week - seeing same things over and over is not fun. I may edit my rating if I see a difference in the future - so far, the execution of the concept has been awful! I hope HOME Sense reads this because I would keep coming back if I knew they had bigger better pieces. I live 30 mins away - please make my...
