Sometimes you have to call it how it is. Found myself stopping in to grab a quick bite while my mom was having medical treatment close by. Ordered an S5 which is honey chicken salad, bacon, lettuce tomato on toast, I asked for it on an everything bagel instead. Guessing I confused my sandwich maker because they had to read the posted menu board several times in order to make my sandwich. Maybe it was a new person not a big deal. I believe the person asked me what kind of side salad I would like with it. Having ordered similarly from my local bagel place daily (plain chicken salad or tuna on a everything bagel, rather then honey chicken). Wait, did I mention that ordering honey chicken was an awful decision on my part. Anyway so when asked about a side salad. I quickly responded quarter of potato salad and half lb, of macaroni salad. Also terrible mistakes. My place usually gives a pickle as well. Saying this place is pricey is an understatement. I caught myself with some sticker shock, after shock as if i visited my local car dealership. If your gonna be that pricey at least back it up with yummy deliciousness. To my dismay that did not happen. I am not even trying to bash this place. The last straw was when I tried the mac salad, it literally tasted like a cup of sugar was poured into it. I wanted to leave it right there on the table after I cleaned up. I did the right thing, cleaned up discarded the quarter eaten take out container. Have you ever been so hungry that at that moment when you can finally eat. Even if the meal is terrible. Your so famished that you shovel it down. This was me in this moment. I really wish I kept driving up the block to the delicious deli around the corner. Which I have frequented while driving my work truck. On a positive note staff was friendly and the place is very clean with a big dining area. Though I won't be dining there. As for the next 5 weeks everyday, my family member will be receiving treatment in the area I will not make the same...
Read moreI was here ordering a tuna melt this past Saturday. I asked the young lady if they had French dressing, and she replied to me that they had Russian dressing. which I said I would take on the side. As the woman called me over to ring me up, I asked her if the Russian dressing was in the bag, and she told me it was on the sandwich. I said to her that I had asked for it on the side. And she says, "You did not say that." Is this how your employees talk to customers? I mean, I am a paying customer; I wasn't getting any free food. So I really didn't understand her attitude. I then give her my debit card so she can ring me up. Then she tells me my card was declined (which I find very strange because I have more then enough funds on my card) so then she asked me if I wanted her to try again and I said yes and all of a sudden it went through the second time. And it's not like she even told me it went through I had to ask her. I'm not sure what changed the second time. Overall I understand that by 2:30 people are tired and it's probably been a long day for the workers at bagel basket. But I am still a paying customer and there really was no need for an attitude and her snapping at me. She could have just said she didn't hear my request. Maybe it was a misunderstanding. But I probably won't be coming back. Please train your employees.
Update: I really do appreciate receiving a response from the owner on this review. It makes me feel heard. Because of that I will bring it to 3 stars. Don't get me wrong the service was not good that Saturday i went. But because of the owners response i will update. Thank you owner for responding to my review. I trust that changes...
Read moreI have been frequenting the Bagel Basket for the last 15 years. In that time I have seen it change from a slightly overpriced, yet efficient and quality establishment into what it is now - still overpriced, but inefficient with declining quality.
My two most recent experiences:
Stopped in with my girlfriend on a morning when we were in somewhat of a hurry. She ordered a simple egg sandwich and I got a buttered bagel. No one else in the place, the sandwich took forever and she was not thrilled with the quality.
Next, we stopped in for a few sandwiches. I asked for a bacon and lettuce wrap - got 4 strips of bacon in some shredded lettuce - was looking for something else to eat as soon as I was finished. Girlfriend ordered a panini from the board, but asked to subtract bacon - sandwich was delivered with bacon melted into the cheese. Person at register actually called out the order for 'no bacon' to see whose it was when we were called up to pay. They were nice enough to make her something else when we brought it to the counter and showed them -- and in most cases we would understand the simple mistake, but the place just seems slow and sloppy nowadays.
Seems like they are under new management - don't recognize any of the workers I have seen in there for the years I had been visiting prior. Not very impressed and I won't be back...
