North Shore Farms — Local services in Town of Smithtown

I have been shopping at the north shore farms in commack since they first opened in my area. I am Caribbean American and I have lived in commack for 40 years. I have never experienced race related issues from anyone in my area, however, I cannot say that about the people who work at the fish market at North Shore Farms. Today I went to their counter to purchase some fish where I watched a white women receive a discount on 1lb of salmon that was already on sale for $10.99. I went to purchase a whole blue snapper, and asked if I could receive a discount since I was buying the entire fish, but the man who worked at the counter refused to negotiate a discounted price with me despite giving the white woman before me a $5 discount on a pound of fish. I had bought 2lbs of salmon, 2 pounds of blue fish, and was looking to buy a whole blue fish but this worker REFUSED to give me any type of discount. I then spoke to the manager of north shore farms and all he could give me was an “I’m sorry”. I have always tried to give small businesses/grocery stores my support, but from now on Costco and BJs will be my only grocery stores. A store with friendly workers, the best is the bakery with a variety of cakes,pastries.and warm bread just out of the oven, the Deli with food just ready to eat,besides the cold cuts, the meat section nice and clean, the juice section doesn't have as many varieties like a regular supermarket, now as soon as you enter, there is something that can't be avoided ,this is the strong smell of the fish section that invade the vegetables section making for some people nit to hang there for too long! Employees always make every lettuce parsley, etc, making it to look good,the fruits I have mix thoughts, and the pears all with brown spots make them look unappealing, so are the apple they look good but when you peel then are full of brown spots I wonder if some of them where left over, from other store, I would like to give them 5 stars just for the bakery and the workers, but they need to get rid of that fishy smell when you enter unless you are a fisherman in Alaska...

My recent visit to North Shore Farms Commack on Vanderbilt motor Parkway, was nothing short of terrible. The service by the cashier Yanci was awful. She was rude, never asked if I wanted my groceries packed in a bag, pushed them to the end expecting me to bag. When I said I wanted a bag she she threw everything including my eggs into one paper bag in which was about to burst. I came home with three broken eggs. I asked to speak to a manager, who stood there with a smirk on his face. as I left, they stood there, laughing and waving by the window. I was appalled by this behavior. as far as the produce goes, there was a lot that needed to be checked on and gotten rid of there were rotted strawberries things that should not have been out in produce were out like it seemed like forever.
