Brinkmann's — Local services in Town of Islip

I went to Brinkmann‘s this morning looking for an adapter to connect a paver cleaner to a propane tank. I asked the two clerks at the front desk if they had such an adapter and they sent me to aisle 8. Couldn’t find a thing. I walked around the store, looking for someone that might help. Another clerk I stopped said go to the front counter. Knowing that they didn’t know, I kept my search going and found a clerk at the back of the store loading a shelf. Without making eye contact with me he told me if they had anything it would be on the wall by aisle 24. There were a whole bunch of different adapters at aisle 24 and I wasn’t sure which one to use but no one apparently had an interest in getting up from their seats or from behind their desks and solving my problem. I purchased a few other things I needed and checked out at the register. I said to the cashier that the fact that no one could be bothered to help me was unusual for the store. Every year I have gone to a Home Depot, Lowe’s, and nursery looking for someone to help me with maintaining my lawn and it never fails that I walk out frustrated because there is no one who seems to know anything about yearly lawn care maintenance. I thought it would be the same at Brinkmann’s in Sayville, but I was wrong. I met Mike who I believe is a manager at Brinkmann’s in March while looking for assistance with my Spring lawn care. He was extremely patient and knowledgeable. He took the time to ask questions about my lawn and together we determined the right course of action to take. He was spot on. I went to see Mike this past week regarding the steps I should take this fall with my lawn. He told me to take pictures of the lawn and come see him so we could see what needed to be done. When I returned he knew exactly what I needed. After years of frustration trying to work with salespeople who do not have the knowledge or patience, I cannot say enough about the positive experience I had with Mike. So I always get top notch service here and they always have what I need, but this time I am just so happy I had to write a review. I believe the young woman who helped me is named Hope, but it was a while ago so I could be wrong. I was making this key rack for a friend and looking for hardware. Another employee had shown me where the hooks were a few days before and I was looking for a different finish. She saw my project and showed me amazing things on high shelves I would have never found on my own, or been shown if she hadn't taken an interest in why I was asking for hooks.
