As a Latino immigrant who works in the fashion industry and the New york Times, I just wrote an article about my work.
I didn't expect such racist experience in this pub bar. When I visited this place 3 weeks ago, I was waiting for my train back to NYC, and I decided to grab a beer because my train was an hour away from the station of Sayville. As soon as I got into the bar, the owner of the place started looking at me weird. It was a group of people around me, and I was the last person who received attention to order a beer. After I got the beer, I asked where the bathroom was, and the owner was making funny of me and bullying. The owner answered me that the bathroom in the middle of the car in the train suggested that I could go there. The bartender, after his response she guia me where the bathroom was. I ignored the comment to do not give the power of what this person was expecting me to answer. After I ordered something to eat and unfortunately the owner was the one who was cooking the food. He gave me a hot dog cold, and when I requested some mayonnaise, he said to me there was no mayonnaise. The bartender tries to serve properly. She brings the mayonnaise. I decided to do not eat the hot dog. I decide to do not eat the hot dog, and I asked for my check. When he saw that, I asked for it, and he didn't give me a bill he took my card, and he charged what he wanted to charge. At this point, I just wanted to get out from there. I can't believe that in NY, people still need education about equality. If people understand that we all are one, the world will be a better place to live on...
Read moreI’ve never been to a bar where the bartender actually stares at you and doesn’t offer any service when there’s only about 10 people in the bar.. she took my empty beer off the bar and I tried to ask for another but she just walked away. My friends asked for shots and she LITERALLY sighed and asked “of what?” Sorry. Are we annoying you? She got ZERO tips from our 20 person party. Instead.. the man behind the bar who is refilling ice and everyone’s beers deserves every tip given tonight. The girl is too busy on her phone to acknowledge anybody at the bar. If my friend wasn’t playing tonight I would have walked out after the first beer. If she was a competent bartender I would have spent 3x as much.. but this bar won’t last long with the way she over pours drinks when she actually gets around to making them. She can’t make anything right. They need to call bar rescue before they go bankrupt. (I’d like to add that none of us are drunk annoying customers.. but paying, sober customers.. all going to other bars so we can actually...
