New York Blood Center - Massapequa Donor Center — Local services in Town of Oyster Bay

My recent visit to the New York Blood Center in Massapequa was a positive and meaningful experience. Donating blood is such a vital act, and the staff at NYBC made the process as comfortable and seamless as possible.

This time, I had the pleasure of being assisted by Ariel, and I simply had to highlight his exceptional service. From the moment I checked in, Ariel was incredibly kind and supportive. He had a wonderful, reassuring demeanor that immediately put me at ease. He walked me through every step of the donation process with clear instructions and a genuine warmth that made me feel truly cared for.

Ariel did a terrific job with the venipuncture – it was practically painless! More importantly, he was attentive throughout the entire donation, checking in to make sure I was feeling alright and offering a friendly conversation. His professionalism combined with his compassionate nature made what could be a slightly daunting experience into a pleasant one.

The New York Blood Center is a critical institution for our community, and the dedication of people like Ariel is what makes it so successful. The staff was friendly but they were in a rush to close. My appt was at 1p.m. I told them last time I donated blood, it took an hour. They were joking around and said this time it'll take 2 hrs. But not b/c they close at 2p.m. i went on a Saturday. B/c they were in a rush to close they hurt me pretty badly. Every min or so someone came over to move around the needle in arm. The result... photo will show my experience. Although the staff was friendly, they made my experience here very badly. Instead of telling me to reschedule so they didnt have to rush, they took my blood and made me feel bad b/c I don't know if I should ever donate my blood again now. My first experience was not good either, but they leave my arm bruised b/c they let the blood come out slowly until I was done. Instead of poking around the needle in arm. But this time... this is traumatizing for me... Not sure if the photo is showing, but basically they bruised my arm. I guess it is pretty gruesome for Google...

01/20/2018 Overall Facility Professionalism do not bother going here. choose another center . you may be wasting your time going to this center especially on a Saturday.Been turned down here several times due to what they say is high blood pressure. Never at any other center or drive has this happened in 40 years. As i sit in the waiting area i am surprised at the number of people that are constantly turned down at this office.Had pressure check at doctors office 2 days prior to this and was told it is perfect. So why have i only been turned down at this office only to go to another office 2 days later and have no issues. this is the 3rd time.
