When you’re in Cold Springs, stop by, support a small business, and enjoy this unique and beautiful experience. I was thrilled to return to Mundane today, two years after my first visit. To capture just how much the store resonated with me, I'll share my experience from that first visit, though today was equally as delightful. When I first walked in, Alexandra greeted me behind the scent bar, inviting me to explore the array of boutique scents displayed for creating custom candles or diffusers. I wandered through scents like freshly mown grass, new parchment, and spearmint toothpaste—an homage to my favorite Harry Potter film, with Hermione’s love potion.

The store truly feels like a love potion itself, allowing you to combine scents that reflect your unique tastes. After selecting your scents, you’re welcomed to the ‘bar’ to mix and pour your candle. The candle I made two years ago burned so beautifully and filled the room with everything I loved. I found myself reluctant to burn it, afraid I'd lose that perfect fragrance once it was gone. I treasured it so much that I returned today, determined to recreate my scent and stock up on candles I could burn without hesitation. I even brought along some friends so they could enjoy the experience, too.

Today, I also had the pleasure of learning more about Alexandra’s background in perfumery and her journey into entrepreneurship—she’s as charming as the experience of her store. I couldn’t recommend them both...

First, let me just say the owners Alexandra and Charlie are possibly the two coolest people ever. I brought my daughter and wife here to check it out and we had a blast. The shop is really amazing and helps complement the vibe in Cold Spring.

The scent making experience was really fun and there was a great selection for anyone. Plus you don’t have to just make a candle, but there were other items to use your scents with like a bead shaker I keep in my car. The scents themselves were not overwhelming like candles you buy from bath and body works. You also don’t have to make a custom scent if you don’t want to but you can also buy premade candles and others if you’re on the go or gift shopping.

Separate from the candle scent experience. The additional items sold in the store are unique and there is a great selection of items made by other small businesses. I love the fact they promote other small business owners - that’s community.

By far the best shop in Cold Spring. It’s a must go to! First the custom scented diffusers are the best I’ve seen and smelled. Superior to anything else available anywhere. Second, the customized incense sticks are bomb: sublime scents, unique, and perfect in every way. Third, the owners Charlie and Alex are the best. Don’t let the fact that Charlie is as much of a Dead Head as I am confuse you: the vibe in the store is upscale, perfectly laid out, chill, and what you’d expect from a spot that is NOT Mundane whatsoever. They also specialize in customer created customized products for anyone wanting the experience of making their own specialty candles, diffusers, etc. A wonderful value add for couples, families with kids, and generally anyone looking for something out-of-the box to do. Great people and a perfect spot makes the trip to Cold Spring worth it every...
