My wife and I attended the Dwight Yoakam show on 9/12/25. First time at this venue, so we didn't know the 'lay of the land'. We purchased tickets up high in the back of the event center as we discovered the concert late. Now we have done this several times at other venues, and they have had elevators to take you to the upper bowls. We discovered after we arrived that this venue does not. You must walk the stairs from the main level all the way up. My wife has limited mobility, and that slow walk up put her in considerable pain. That is on me (husband) for not checking.
However, what you read about the seats are true ... they are small, cramped and hard. If you happen to have a larger person behind you, you will feel their knees in your back.
The acoustics were bad. We could not understand anything Dwight was speaking. We could hear him speaking, but the sound was so muffled that we would not make out anything. I am not sure what the issue was, but I have read many comments here praising the sound at this facility, so maybe something was off the night we attended.
Back to my wife ... the cramped seating made her pain even worse, and halfway through the show I knew we had to leave. But the stairs are so steep and it was so dark I was afraid for my wife's safety. After asking God for help we started making our way down.
I went into this detail to give you a sense of my appreciation as we were surrounded by ushers who escorted us down, using their flashlight to illuminate our walk and point out steps. Then suddenly a very strong mystery man came out of the stands and took hold of my wife's other arm as we all escorted her down to the main floor. Wow. Thank you all very much! And thank you again, God!
I took away 1 star in my review because of the acoustics. I am giving 4 stars because of how wonderful the employees at Turning Stone treated us. At each station ... starting at the valet .. to the people giving directions ... to the food court ... to the man in the walkway holding the 'this way' sign ... to the elevator operator who got us to the main floor ... to the 2 ladies working concessions ... and finally to the ushers ... everyone was so nice and helpful.
Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWelcome to The Event Center! We've jammed 5,000 people into a venue that fits 4,000! The seats are as brutally uncomfortable as any seat I've ever sat in. Imagine an airplane but the seats are cinder blocks. The rows are so tight, if you have to get up the entire row has to file out to let you through. It's impossible to get out of get comfortable. Your neck and back will be on fire as you look left (or right) for 3 hours straight.
There are 2 people running the drink concessions stand for the entire venue. It's an hour wait in a line that wraps around the venue as two young women work furiously to serve 5,000 people. They might have a chance if they could just take money and hand you a bottle but every drink must be emptied into a cup creating twice the waste and twice the time to serve each individual.
You'll lock your phone in a bag and need to get in unlocked on the way out. However if you think not bringing a phone at all will expedite your exit it won't. Everyone has to go through the bag unlock people.
The overall herding of everyone into and out of the venue was pretty reasonable. A giant crowd of people moving very slowly went as smoothly as it could have.
Overall it's one of the only venues locally to see big name acts (we saw Kevin Hart on Mother's Day), but it's cramped and uncomfortable. Five stars for the caliber of shows they bring in and the overall organization, but minus three stars because everything else is a mess. They need 2 or 3 more drink and food stations, or roaming concessions because leaving your seat is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been to a PGA US Open, I've seen my Giants play several times, had the chance to watch my favorite baseball player, K.G. Jr, playing the Yankees with my feet rested on the Reds dug-out, went to a NASCAR race where I had V.I.P. meet and greet Jeff Gordon tickets. I've seen some pretty cool shows at great venues. Last night was my son's and my first time watching a professional boxing event, and my 1st time at Turning Stone Resort and Casino Event Center. The atmosphere here was like nothing I've ever experienced. The way everything was set up was 100% for the fans. The accessibility and interactions we had with not only the fighters but the stars that were in attendance was unbelievable, to say the least. In the first 15 minutes that we were there, my son had pictures and birthday wishes from one of the greatest boxers of all times daughter and grandson and got his picture taken and birthday wishes from one of the founding members of Hip Hop music. It was the best entertainment I've ever witnessed. To think of how far Ray Halbritter and staff have come from a little bingo hall, gas station, and go-cart track on Rt. 45 to hosting the biggest sports and Hollywood icons is...
