A literal nightmare.
Worst alteration experience ever. $130 dollars, 3-4 visits, and 2-3 months later, I have a $200+ ruined bridesmaids dress. The owner is sweet and tried to help make the situation better, but after you let your staff ruin a $200+ bridesmaid gown and blame it on âwell not everyone knows how to work with that materialâ after you accepted the job, itâs hard to come back from thatâŚ
I took a pair of denim shorts and a bridesmaid dress here approximately 2-3 months ago. They had a deadline of July 20 (no rush job, plenty of time) and told me they could do the job. I went in to pickup my denim shorts, which needed a new zipper and there was a hole left at the bottom of the zipper big enough to see your underwear through. The owner said a new hire did it and she would fix it. I left and went back a week or so later and the shorts were done.
Then I was told my dress was done. It needed to be hemmed, taken in at the waist and hips, and tightened through the chest. My mom came with me to try on the final result⌠less than impressive. The back was cut shorter than the front! There were huge points at the hips instead of a smooth curves. The lining was somehow showing through the slit up the leg â like they cut the outside material of the dress when they took it in, but didnât cut the lining there was so much extra material. The chest was loose and straps were not taken in. So the owner promised she herself would fix all of the errors and get it done for me correctlyâŚ
Oh, and I went in during normal business hours to find no one there. My mom and I had to wait 20+ minutes until someone arrived to let us in.
So, my final visit, the dress has multiple snags in the material (clearly not hung up or placed in a dress bag to protect it), a mark on the front, and the points on the hips are still there just slightly reduced. The owner says itâs easy to steam those out⌠one hip still has a point on it. The inner lining is still popping out majorly on the leg slit. The zipper at the bottom is bulging. The hem is too short in the back and too long in the front. At this point I express my frustration as my expensive bridesmaid dress is ruined. I take the dress on and off 4 times as the owner hand sews and attempts to fix her staffâs mistakesâŚ.. Not only did she not correct the issues on the dress herself (as she promised me), she let another newbie work on the dress to destroy it further.
Then proceeds to charge me anyway offering me a small discount, and goes silent when I say Iâm going to have to go find new heels that are shorter (since they shortened the dress too much in the back and not in the front) and pay someone else to alter it correctly OR buy an entirely new $200+ dress plus rush shipping if it cannot be fixed by someone who knows what theyâre doing.
This was a nightmare of an experience and I still have to deal with getting a new dress / paying for new alterations at a minimum.
Being short staffed, your staff not being trained properly or lying to you about their skill set, or being overbooked are all not acceptable excuses for ruining a dress and making a customer pay potentially $300+ more to fix your mistakes. I am disgusted at this entire experience.
Highly recommend you...
Read moreMy first experience having things tailored and it was seamless (hehehe - get it?!) I brought in a bunch of items that didn't quite fit and have been in my closet for years. The shop was pleasant and professional, and my clothes were ready to be picked up WAY faster than I expected. I was nervous because she marked everything so fast but when I tried on the tailored clothes they fit absolutely perfectly. The stitching was very high quality, it was completed quickly, and the owner is very nice. It was not cheap, but I also don't really have anything to compare it to and the work was excellent. I will definitely...
Read moreI was really happy with how quickly my alterations on my bridesmaids dress were done. Very quick and efficient. However, to hem the bottom of the dress and bring it in a few inches, my total was $237! I was shocked at the price point. During fitting she suggested replacing the zipper with one that was better quality, which I'm sure added to the cost. There were loose threads hanging off of the inner layer that we had to trim off on the day of the wedding too which I was disappointed by considering the high cost. I would recommend this place but just be aware of the high cost and ask how much...
