The beaches on Treasure Island are amazing. They have the largest length of sand, out of all the local beaches. There are plenty of cabanas for rent along the shore line. They have several volleyball nets for public usage. There are two spots for showering off. One is a public spot near 105th. The other is near 112th and is rented out by a snack stand. You have to pay a $1.00 for showering off, but I cannot describe how clean this public shower is. I would happily pay $1.00 every time! You can have alcohol on the beaches here as long as you don't have glass bottles. Which is wonderful for all day events. Also the have "Free Beach Taxies" here! If you have too much to drink, they drive you back to your hotel or restaurant for a tip! $10-15 is well worth many lives folks! Way to go. The local spots are amazing. Foxy's has wonderful food and if you go there, ask for Hula. Her service is amazing. VIP is worth the hour wait that you will have around dinner. Ricky T's is known for the music they host. CJ's on the Island has flipped the script on success here. If you are looking for a happening spot on a Monday, this is the place to go! They have live music earlier in the evening and two DJ's that start at ten pm. Their drink specials will keep you dancing the night away. It draws in the younger crowd on Mondays also. So if you are in your 20's and trying to get away from the Q tips, during snow bird season, you just found...
Read moreWhat is not to LOVE, Treasure Island Beach offers a large beachfront of lush find white sand along the Gulf. You can walk the entire stretch from the bridge at John's Pass all the way to the tip of Sunset Beach and remain on the public beach the entire walk.
If you want a break from the sun venture off the beach and you are on Gulf Blvd which is lined with shops, bars, and restaurants along the way. There are many access boardwalks that lead directly to the beach so you are never far from an access point to get back onto the beach.
The beach stays busy and crowded but it is large and you can always find a place to put your chairs or blanket even on the busiest of holiday weekends.
The beach is open year round and is amazing at any time of year that you choose to visit. The Gulf waters are shallow and the beach is marked well for swimming, snorkeling, skim boarding, paddle boarding or any other water activities.
If there was any downside to this beach it would be parking, the city offers public parking lots with facilities for changing and bathrooms but all parking is metered and you do have to pay. The rate averages around $2.00 per hour unless you are staying at a place that provides parking. Don't try to park at a business as all the lots are marked that they will tow and they do as parking is a premium...
Read moreAn excellent, spacious beach with whitish, smooth sand. It is clean and well-cared for with few hidden objects buried in the sand. It is ideal for families with children with plenty of soft sand to build castles and forts. There is a giant water slide for children which is a great attraction for the kids. The depth of the beach is huge and it is so spacious that it is seldom crowded. There are beach chairs and umbrellas for rent - a little pricey but well worth the investment in the hot blazing sun during the spring and summer. This public beach has rest room facilities that are well maintained in addition to outdoor showers. One disadvantage is that parking is limited and often full. I would suggest that if you plan to visit, come early and perhaps you will find a spot. The beach entrance is not clearly visible but look for a Publix supermarket across the street. If you cant find a spot, drop off your guests with their beach gear, and then search for alternate parking. I was desperate and parked illegally at Publix but such a choice might risk towing - fortunately I...
