I recently had the privilege of experiencing the sheer beauty of Treasure Island Beach. The moment I laid my eyes on its stunning waters and pristine beach, I was in awe. However, amidst this breathtaking scenery, there is an urgent issue that needs attention – the amount of plastic waste left behind by visitors.
While the water and the beach are absolutely gorgeous, the sight of discarded plastic materials tarnishes this natural splendor. During just one hour of my visit, I personally collected several plastic straps from new umbrellas, small plastic shot bottles, Gatorade bottles, coke cans, and zip lock bags. It is disheartening to witness such negligence.
To all future visitors, I implore you to double-check your surroundings before leaving the beach, ensuring that you take everything back with you. It would be immensely helpful to have a sign at the beach saying, "Thank you for visiting, please leave with more plastic than you came with." This simple reminder can create a sense of responsibility among everyone to pick up any litter they come across.
It's crucial to understand that this litter eventually finds its way into the water, affecting not only the marine life but also our own well-being. By keeping the beach clean, we are actively preserving the natural habitat for birds, fish, and other wildlife, as well as ensuring the long-term health of our beloved beach.
Let's collectively embrace the responsibility of maintaining the cleanliness. By doing so, we contribute to the conservation of this remarkable place and protect its beauty for...
Read moreTreasure Island Beach is a beautiful, laid-back destination on Florida’s Gulf Coast that offers everything you’d want for a peaceful beach day. From it's soft white sands to the warm, gentle Gulf waters, this beach delivers a classic Florida experience without feeling overly commercialized.
The beach is impressively clean and spacious, making it ideal for spreading out a towel or renting a cabana. The shoreline is calm and shallow, which is perfect for a couple's day out or anyone looking to float and relax. You’ll often find seashells and sand dollars, especially in the morning. One of the standout features is the sunset—it’s breathtaking. Visitors routinely stay well into the evening just to witness the sky turn golden and fiery orange as the sun dips into the Gulf. Bring a camera or just take it in. You can rent paddleboards, beach chairs, umbrellas, and more, but be prepared for some extra costs—the convenience comes at a price. That said, everything is easy to access. Restrooms and outdoor showers are available and generally clean. Beach mats and ramps make parts of the beach accessible, which is a plus for families. Treasure Island Beach strikes a great balance between relaxation and activity. Whether you're there to unwind, take long walks, or catch a perfect sunset, it’s hard to be disappointed. Just plan ahead for parking and bring a little patience if it’s a busy day. Would I go...
Read moreCannot speak for resort but my girlfriend and I went to the beach on this resort for a couple hours and had an awful experience. We were threatened by the cabana boy for sitting in front of "his" chairs and yellow cabana. Initially we set up our belongings on the chairs and set our towel in front of the chairs. After some time of sitting there the cabana boy came over and told us that the chairs and cover were able to be rented and cost $15 for two hours of use, we respectfully declined and removed our items from the chairs and moved the yellow cabana to cover the chairs to show that we were not interested in using these. After that we walked the beach for a little while and had a great time collecting shells. However, we eventually came back to the towel and laid back down and were enjoying the sun and the cabana boy came back after about half an hour and began to yell at us. Initially we thought it was a joke because there was seven other cabanas not being used within a quarter mile or so, but the cabana boy yelled phrases like "if I catch you here again tomorrow we're going to have real problems" and "YO could you at least F**king look at me while I'm talking to you" (we were facing towards the water and laying down making looking at him who was behind us inconvenient). Anyways, we will not be returning to this beach and will never recommend Treasure Island...
