A Hidden Gem That Needs to be Un-Hidden!

Curious Soul Bakery and Coffee Shop is a great little place worth checking out. Their coffee is roasted locally in St. Petersburg, and (if I remember right) features mostly single origin beans from Brazil and Colombia. The drip coffee is smooth, and the milk-based espresso drinks are well done. They’ve clearly taken the time to dial in their espresso machine; no sour or bitter end notes, just well-balanced coffee.

But the real standout is the bakery. Everything is made in-house, and I mean everything. If they’re out of something, that’s it for the day, which just shows how fresh it all is. I was able to try the blackberry lemon bars, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, and bagels which are handcrafted and fresh (Yes - the bagels are hand made). You can immediately tell none of it came from a restaurant supply store. And it feels good as a customer when you bring food back to the family, they take a bite, and respond with that wide-eyed "wow" look.

While I was there, I overheard a few regulars come in raving about the food, and I can see why. This is the kind of place that could easily become your go-to spot— it's comfortable, delicious, and overall full of care. While vacationing in Treasure Island for a week, I reached out to Curious Soul Bakery ahead of time to see if they could make a special cake for my husband’s 60th birthday. Not only did the owner respond with warmth and enthusiasm, but they went above and beyond in every way imaginable.

Here’s the incredible part: the bakery wasn’t even open yet! Their soft opening was scheduled for the following week, but the owner graciously accommodated my request and crafted the most beautiful and delicious cake for our celebration. Every detail was perfect — from the design to the flavor — and it absolutely exceeded our expectations.

You can truly tell this bakery is a labor of love. The care, passion, and personal touch that went into our experience was unforgettable. If this is what they’re doing before their grand opening, I can only imagine the magic that’s to come.

They are crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, with just the right kick of heat and a generous amount of melted, golden cheddar. It is hands-down one of the best savory bagels I’ve ever had! Pair that with their fresh brewed espressos, and you’ve got a breakfast that rivals any high-end café. The espresso is smooth, rich, and expertly brewed with absolutely no bitterness!
