I don't have any comic stores near me but I do go to Troy, NY every week. These guys are friendly and willing to help a guy get his comic fix every week. With a good supply of new stuff every week on the rack, anywhere from 4-6 dollar bins to experiment with, subscription service (which comes with a discount!) and MtG games held in the evening this is a nice little comic shop tucked away between the Hudson River and the RPI campus. It's also near a convenience store and a bunch of fast food places so it's nice to grab my comics then go read while I eat. What really makes this place stand out for me is how accommodating the owner is. He understands my situation, living so far away, and he'll hang out for a few extra minutes past closing so I can pick up my comics. I can understand that he can't do this for everyone but the fact that he's willing to help really goes...
Read moreThis shop is like walking into a fantasy land of dreams and the owner is just too fabulous. As a novice graphic novel dabbler, I didn't really know where to start for some good series outside my shirt list of LGBTQIA+ positive comics I had roughly put together beforehand. I was quickly able to get the owners help locating those and then he talked me through so many other great series to try as I explore and learn more about artist and creators and genres I love. I am obsessed with the comics I did purchase my first day and can't wait to go back and support this great shop by ordering next editions. They had an amazing selection, can order what you want and they have great knowledge on everything in the shop. There was even a group playing D&D in the back of shop while there. Just so cool. A must see spot in Troy that makes our great city so...
Read moreBeen here a few times usually really good selection and nice staff. But selection has gone down a lot. Prices are higher than usual. Staff this time was screaming across the store to talk to people who were playing card games. Half the store was blocked by the tables which was okay but made it hard to shop the store. Went to check out, guy was on his tablet and said “can you wait 2 minutes. I’ll give you a discount I just need to finish this game.” I don’t think asking people to wait while you play a game when you’re supposed to be working is appropriate but also no discount that was promised. So I’ll go somewhere else now because of that...
