Nighthawks has left us thoroughly impressed that each of the dishes are entirely house-made and sourced locally from the area. The aesthetics of the establishment are cozy, inviting, and eclectic with a good vibe overall. This restaurant has something for everybody, from picky eaters to experimental foodies and everything in between. Each of the dishes are artfully crafted with high quality ingredients. We would like to give the highest praise to the chef for their creative dishes and we will certainly be returning in the future!
Soup of the day - acorn squash soup The soup of the day for this restaurant is always fantastic, we highly recommend getting it. It was a hearty, thick soup that was well-seasoned and good for a cold winter day. The soup was both sweet and spicy with a dash of curry flavor that complimented the squash well.
House fettuccine carbonara - These house made noodles were very fresh and had a nice taste/texture to them that paired with a heavy carbonara sauce topped with delicious pork jowl. The jowl was crispy on the outside with a nice, melt in your mouth, soft interior. This is some of the best carbonara we have ever had and it should be a staple dish here!
Duck breast, stewed beans, apple & fermented cabbage slaw - Delicious, a perfect medium-rare duck breast with a nice fat cap that was charred & crispy on the exterior which paired well with the pleasant, mineral-rich flavor of the meat. The coleslaw provided the perfect palate cleanser and complimented the strong flavors of the dish.
Burgers & Fries - We thought these were very high quality burgers. Each of the ingredients were very fresh and the beef had a great flavor to it. The fries were great, crispy on the outside while soft and fluffy on the inside. They even had house made pickles!
House Smoked Coppa Poutine - This poutine is fantastic, it is a unique take on a traditional poutine that I have never had before. While I enjoy a typical poutine after living in Canada, this one had a gravy that was a mixture of sweet and savory with actual cheese curds and sweet pickled red peppers. This poutine makes me wish that it was more popular in the states.
Smoked celeriac (vegan) - The vegan option for the week was a delicious smoked celeriac with a bunch of fresh herbs and veggies underneath a savory and delightful romesco sauce. The celeriac was hardy and robust with a texture that had a fresh crisp crunch which left us satisfied. Overall, the dish was a texture and flavor delight.
Ultimately, this restaurant is fantastic. Between the creativity and quality of the dishes to the relaxed, eclectic vibe, we...
Read moreI wish I could leave zero stars or a below zero rating. We waited 30 minutes without service - even with approaching the hostess twice. Menus and drinks were given upon prompting. We were given three menus to share amongst 7 people and pages were missing from them and no menu was the same. The food and beverage items were all different and when we went to the website to compare, it too was different. So we spent time trying to decipher and figure out which menu was probably accurate and made our choices. When the waitress finally showed up after 30 minutes, she excused and laughed off this disrespectful subpar service with a casual, “I didn’t even know you were here! Anyways, if you see xyz on your menu, it’s not accurate! Also, tonight we don’t have…” and began rattling off multiple items on the menu that they no longer had or were inaccurately printed, items that we all just spent time choosing. The waitress had absolutely no tact and upon requesting the manager, it was quickly apparent that NightHawk is generally lacking tack and could also be very adamant about making certain patrons feel unwelcome. There was no offer of an apology. The defensive manager simply affirmed and “explained” the experience as if that made it acceptable or any less atrocious. To state it plainly, Nighthawk simply does not care for their patrons and or the experience or service they provide. The manager Nora(sp?) rudely shrugged us off and wished us a shady goodnight through the most forced and fake Pan Am smile. We did not eat here or enjoy a beverage. && we never will. I’m shocked and appalled at the treatment we received. There are better...
Read moreSo I'm visiting my friends from Maryland for their Bridal Shower and om Sunday after we recovered from the shower I wanted to get brunch and I found Nighthawks online and it looked super cute. So we made reservations. We walk in and first we love the vibe. It looks like a cute cafe/coffee shop on the inside. Their both Lesbians and I'm a gay man but we felt very accepted and like we were at home. We started with a Caraffe of Mimosas and then the new glazed donuts which were amazing and honestly probably the best donut I ever had. Now for my entree I looked at the menu before hand and I was so looking forward to the Cornbread waffle and the fried chicken. Unfortunately that wasn't on the menu. So I ordered the crispy fried rice and it was delicious. I ate every bite. The only thing I would suggest is it needs hot sauce or some soft of sauce or creamy aspect. Maybe like a spicy aioli. But I used my friends special sauce that she got with her breakfast sandwich and it worked. The breakfast sandwich was also amazing, I finished her half. Then my other friend got the chocolate chip waffles and they were also delicious. I finished hers and we'll and ate about 1/4 of hers. And the Mimosas were perfect. Our server was great. Everything was great. If I'm rating this place out of a 10. I would honestly give them a 8.5. That's only because I really wanted that chicken and waffles because I am a chicken and waffles slut. But I'll be back for the actual wedding in September and we will have 2 other friends with us and possibly their husband. But we will...
