Absolutely the best place to find GEN X, Boomer, or older candy! I went to the Miamisburg, Ohio location first, but Troy, Ohio is not much different. I was asked by an employee which location is better. After laughing, I told her to read my review. Grampa Joe's is the best place I have found in the Ohio Region to find the vast selection of old time candies. There are others that offer old time candies, but only Grampa Joe's knocks their competition out of the park. Taking your children, grandchildren, or great grandchildren out for a day, may I suggest stopping by Grampa Joe's to show your "little ones of any age" what candy you enjoyed as a child. Share your memories with them while they enjoy the candy. My Mother introduced me to both Chocolate NECCO Wafers (New England Confectionery Company) and Abba Zaba (Taffy with Peanut Butter in the center). My Mother shared her NECCO Wafers with me for the first time when I was 4 years old sitting on her Parents (my Grandparents) backyard lawn near Boston, MA. She told me about when she was a child and I learned to love the candy because of the memories my Mother shared with me. Grampa Joe's isn't just a candy store, it is a great place to find old brand soda's we enjoyed as children...and new craft soda's. Stop by any of their location's and take a walk down memory lane alone, or with children as sharing this awesome store and your memories make for happy new memories!
Which store is better? Simply put, Troy, Ohio is closer to my home...But I have awesome memories at the Miamisburg, Ohio location and memories of fun times is what...
Read moreOne of the most unique establishments one can visit within the region. Grandpa Joe's Candy Store is a fantastic place to go with a loved one, as well as young kids. Adolescents may pick up on the crude humor products (which could be left out by the owner), but overall, it's a wonderful place to visit.
Ice cream (a dairy free option as well), fudge, chocolates, taffy, humongous sized versions of "normal" brands, and an eclectic selection of treats is just a phenomenonal sight to behold. Their soda/drink collection is just off the charts too!
There is something here for everyone. And yes, it's a little overpriced. Thus is the cost for such a concentration of nostalgic...
Read moreMy family was in town on the evening of Wednesday, November the 13, 2024. We went in at around 7:50pm in the evening. We took our time looking and my daughter decided on some ice cream. The lady helping her was extremely friendly. She struck up conversations with my daughter and told her that her outfit was cute as well as her earrings. The way this employee was trying to help us out wasn't ordinary for someone of her age (possibly a teenager). She was very outgoing and polite to our entire family. Aside from great customer service, it was so nice going in and browsing all of my favorite candies that i remember as a young kid. We will definitely visit again when...
