I like to support local business and was excited when I discovered Harley's. I dropped in for a pair of comfy shoes to wear on vacation. Staff seemed helpful enough and the selection was decent, so I bought a pair of Dingman shoes for $275, which was a fair price.
Later that day, after walking through the airport for a few minutes I massively regretted buying these shoes; they were the squeakiest shoes I've ever worn, by far. The noise is comparable to ski boots, or a new pair of MX boots with a bunch of squeaky buckles.
I wore them for the first two days of vacation while flying and ended up getting squeaky shoe comments from multiple people, which was funny until it wasn't. They showed no signs of wearing in and getting quieter, so I purchased a different pair at my destination.
Flash forward two weeks later, I took the shoes back to Harley's, told them my story, and asked to exchange for a different brand. They offered only a partial credit and made me feel like I was in the wrong for not being okay with breaking in obnoxious shoes for months on end. I kept the shoes.
Amazon has better customer service without having to grovel, and Dallas is a quick drive for better selection. I don't support this local business.
--- Update 8/30/2024 I noticed that Harley's responded to my review, so I'd like to add an update. It's been two months and the shoes still sound like I'm walking around in a pair of ski boots. This is a design flaw or manufacturer defect that I could not have known about until actually wearing the shoes, and I think that Harley's should have passed the financial burden back to the manufacturer. They were not on my side with this issue. As a consumer, what more about this story do we really...
Read moreWell I posted my review on Yelp but noticed the review here on google right under me.
Like that gentleman I too went to Harley’s last week and Shawn helped me (Great sales person) but unlike him I probably doubled maybe tripled his purchase and was told my alterations would take a week. No problem but I did see this gentleman’s ticket that said VIP and mentioned it to Shawn got a vague answer and I had no problem waiting a week.
Being that I don’t live in Tyler and Harley’s is a 45 minute drive for me I waited an extra day.
The owner approached me when I walked in this afternoon and I told him I was there to pick up my clothes, he didn’t see my clothes upfront and went to check with the alterations person.
When he returned I was told that they hadn’t even started on my alterations, nor did he have a timeframe as to when they would be ready.
I expressed that they were supposed to be completed the previous day! I also shared I was a first time client and that I had seen the VIP right in front of me last week and he was to get next day service. His resolve was to offer my money back, not I apologize and we will get right on it.
Needless to say I accepted the refund (after they charged my card again instead of crediting) Mr. Harley then had a sales associate complete the refund.
Again, I understand he has the monopoly on high end clothing in Tyler and doesn’t need...
Read moreMy husband has purchased a few suits here. The selection is amazing and service has always been extremely attentive and helpful. However, multiple clothing items he's purchased from Harleys (on different occasions) have ripped within 6 months. If the tear is along the seam and can be repaired they will repair it for free, but it's gotten to a point that it's ridiculous. The sales staff suggested that my husband wasn't sitting correctly which is why things are ripping, but if you have to gingerly move through the world to keep your very expensive clothes from ripping ... Not worth it. (And to be clear it's not like he was trying to play spots in these clothes. Just going to the office etc.) Since we've had multiple bad experiences with the quality of their clothes we won't be...
