I cleaned out my closet and brought the more expensive/designer brands to Uptown Cheapskate in Tyler. They said it would be a couple hours but ran a bit over, which is fine. They offered to donate the items they didnāt want to charity which I was happy to do. When I came in to āreview my offerā I saw they had taken a few of the dresses and 2 Kate Spade purses but I didn't see my pair of Golden Goose Midstar Italian Tennis Shoes in the box. When I asked about them, they said I signed up to donate so I couldn't get them back. After explaining that they were Designer Tennis shoes and I didnāt want them just given away, they finally said I could have them back. They said since it had been 4 hours since I dropped off (not my fault, I had to wait for their text and they told me it would only be 2 hours), they had no clue where they were so I could look for them myself. They proceeded to give me 2 huge trash bags full of peopleās stuff for me to dig through to find them. Not in the bags. They then asked me to come back after they had staff come in from lunch to help find them. I waited in the parking lot until they called stating they had found them.
I get that mistakes happen and that I signed up to donate the items they didnāt want. But being that Iāve seen Golden Goose sold in their store before (main reasoning I brought my items there to begin with) I know they know what they are and you donāt just donate a luxury Italian brand to Salvation Army. Especially without informing the customer. Just let me know they donāt sell well in your store or something and Iāll find a buyer myself. The fact that they didnāt even mention they wouldnāt be taking them and had to wait for other staff members to come back from lunch to find them, makes me scratch my head a little bit and wonder if someone was trying to get a free pair of lux tennis shoes.
All this to say, just be careful taking luxury items here to sell. The whole situation just does not sit well with me which I hate because I loved this store! But I probably...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would want to give a higher review, but today is pretty much sealing the deal at 2 stars. When Uptown first opened, it was an incredible thrift shop that had a good balance of sizes, pricing, and styles. When I would first start to bring down my clothes, they would take maybe 2-3 out of every 5 items, and the pricing was completely fair. The last three times Iāve brought clothes down, I would bring down 30-40 items, and maybe have 4 bought. Normally this wouldnāt bother me except for the fact that a majority of those clothes were in very good condition and a lot still had tags. When you go in to shop now, be prepared to only be able to buy XS, small and medium sizes. Their selection of large-2XL is pitiful, and the clothes that are on the racks are either fully wrinkled, ripped, or stained. My mom and I (sizes large to 2XL) brought down about 25 items to be sold today. We went through our closets to find āin seasonā clothing (sweaters, long sleeves, button up dress shirts and blouses). They took 5, all of which were only size large. Some of the items they didnāt buy included nice sweaters with tags still, and larger sized long sleeves and sweaters in brands like Liz Clairborne, Woman Within, and SHEIN.
One of the items they did take was a brand new North Face jacket, for which they gave us $15 for yet plan to sell for $40. I am aware of having to raise the price a bit to make a profit, but it was insulting quite frankly and my mom and I donāt really have any interest in shopping there anymore. Maybe if they had more than a 2 foot section of larger sizes of clothes that wouldnāt be embarrassing to wear, they would have a wider customer base.
Take warning if you plan to shop here and arenāt petite, you MIGHT find one mediocre...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to this store multiple times, only to shop and purchase. Today I wanted to take in some clothes to sell and get money for. Two people approached me, first nice as can be, and informed me that it would only take them 30 mins to eval and determine the worth of my clothes. I have a lot to do today so I figured why not. I'm usually not an impatient individual, but it took these ladies 1 hr and 15 mins. which was much longer than I would've liked. Constantly stopping in the middle of their job to chat with current/ex employees and several other individuals, that were not customers. I approached them several times, asking for an update, each time they would scurry back to their duties, talk amongst themselves, whispering, side eyeing me, and acting annoyed as if I was an inconvenience. Finally, when at the end of it all, I asked for my things back because it was taking far longer than I'd like, they finally said it was ready. Then stated that they forgot to send out a text message to inform me they were done. Done for how long? Ladies, poor communication, poor manners, poor customer service, and poor awareness of your surroundings. FYI: All my clothing were name brand, only wore them a couple of times and then put away for storage. The store barely gave me anything for what they were truly worth. This store is a rip...
