Latest Update after January 28, 2024 Assault on my mother by a male resident:
New 'story' of mom's abuse by a male resident is that - “the man tripped over mother’s foot and fell on top of her”.
Previous ‘view’ of camera footage by Tamayra stated: ‘there was no physical contact between the residents” 2 different accounts and 2 blatant lies.
Director has still not reported incident stating that this was a ‘non-incident’.?? Physical contact between residents is an ‘incident’ and must be reported. Incompetent statement covers up the abuse. I was an eye-witness and victim and Anthology has the audacity to deny the assault and cover it up.
My 95 year old mother was placed in the memory care unit by my brothers in January 2024, unbeknown to me. She had been at Sunrise of Paoli and was very well taken care of. The staff were attentive and cared deeply about their jobs and their residents.
She suffered at Anthology: Neglect, Abandonment, Malnutrition, depression and a sexual and Physical assault by a patient on her floor. From Jan. 24th-Jan. 28th I observed a severe lack of personnel, management, administration, nurses, aids etc. 24/7.
I had last visited my mom at Sunrise of Paoli in mid December of 2023. She was the picture of excellent health, walked constantly, ate voraciously, did crossword puzzles, and read. She was funny, smart and loving.
Within 30 days at Anthology, My mom had lost at least 10 pounds, was frail, weak, and depressed and kept saying, "I want to die, please let me die" She had not eaten for 3 weeks. (confirmed by various staff that I spoke with) She had severe stomach pains from drinking spoiled ensures that they had left on her nightstand. And she was dependent upon a walker.
They had no gatoraid, pedialyte or bottled water to give her. I went out and bought multiple supplies of these items, and fresh fruit and crackers. When I would leave her room, these items would be gone when I returned. There is a man and a woman who go in and out of all the rooms and hang out. On 4 occasions this man would be sitting in the chair in my mother's room. The staff is aware of his wandering and does nothing about it.
On Sunday, January 28, 2024, at 2 in the afternoon, my mother and I were sitting in a chair arm movement class and the same man that roams the halls day and night and enters rooms - LUNGED at her, grabbed her left breast and forced himself on top of her. Sitting next to her, I had to get between them, yelling "STOP! -HELP!-STOP! - HELP!", and had to wrestle him off of her to keep her chair from falling backward. He then struggled with me. There was no help from the staff and they are claiming it didn't happen. I am a 66 year old woman defending my mother from a brutal assault in a multi-purpose room with cameras. I immediately requested from Tamayra Taylor (a med tech who was the only supervisor in the entire high rise) an incident report and a review of the camera footage for proof. She refused to let me see it. The girl conducting the class was Tiara Williams and she said nothing. I then filed a police report with Upper Merion Township officer Joseph Flint, case 24-01878, contacted the Department of Health and Human Services, Protective Senior Services Hotline, and am hiring a lawyer.
I have photos of the man that attacked us at 2P.M. and another photo of him asleep in a chair at 10 P.M.that same night, near my moms room. No one was around supervising him and encouraging him to stay in his room.
Anthology later manipulated the camera footage and said: "They observed no contact between the 2 residents, only my contact with the male resident." Shockingly covering their liability, rather than protecting my mother or myself!
How can they possibly keep my mother safe when I am not there, when they can't keep her safe when I am sitting right next to her? To add insult to injury - they continue to abuse us by manipulating the truth to protect themselves.

Read moreThis new facility has dazzling outward appeal. The gorgeous interior design is streamlined with an abundance of natural lighting and a spacious floor plan. The dining room menu is three star. Most of the nursing staff are accommodating and caring. I believe the problem is that there is staffing shortages and agency staff to fill in gaps. On Sunday, September 5, 2022, I went to visit my 92 year old father. He has Parkinson’s disease and requires maximum assistance with most all ADLs except for feeding and self propelling his power wheelchair. He is oriented to all spheres and does not have dementia. I arrived at 9:30 am to take my father to church and found him seated in his wheelchair, in his underwear. Surprised that he wasn’t ready to go, I asked him how he was and he said, “cold”. He said he fell out of bed and staff found him at 4am and put him in the wheelchair. They hadn’t stopped back since. No breakfast tray; he was neglected. There he sat for 5 1/2 hours, cold. Indeed, his lips were purple, his fingers were white, and his body was cold to touch. I immediately covered him with a blanket, turned the air conditioner from 66 to 72, and went to find staff. I have been a practicing RN for 44 years and I am able to recognize the signs of neglect. I immediately contacted the local police and filed a report of neglect. I also contacted Ombudsman to file a report. I believe my father should be placed in Skilled Nursing. Certainly, his care requires that level of nursing. I believe that Anthology would prefer to keep him in their facility as he is a steady source of revenue in a facility with empty beds.
Addendum: I emailed the DHS and Ombudsman with a CC to administration of Anthology the following Tuesday as Monday was Labor Day. DHS called me and followed up with a phone interview. DHS then went to the administrator of the facility in person. The administrator denied knowledge of the incident although, of course, I left a paper trail. Then they back pedaled stating that the family had an altercation(?). The end result is that the facility has been fined by the State of Pennsylvania...
Read moreMy parents, sister, and I have toured multiple senior living communities over the past two years and Anthology KOP was the standout: The apartments, the dining rooms, the pub, the movie theater, the library, the family-gathering areas, the salon -- all of them were spacious and elegant. Equally important, the Anthology approach toward senior living is upbeat and modern. Don't be surprised if, while visiting the facility, you find yourself wanting to move into Anthology alongside your parents. I'm not kidding; it's that good.
The staff we've been working with have been excellent. Janine Dambrosio met my sister (who'd come from out of town) and me during a February snowstorm to provide an impressive first tour. Since then, Janine has answered countless questions and worked with us to ensure my parents are in the appropriate unit at a great price. I can't say enough about her. Kudos, also, to Janine's colleague, Jaime Tomb, who took over on a later tour when Janine got called away.
Bottom line: My parents will soon be moving into an elegant and upbeat community and we're all excited for them. If you have elders looking for a senior community and you're in the area, I would suggest starting with...
