NOT THE OLD WD!
A very nice store; Southeast Wholesale probably picked up this store which is similar to grocers in Europe. I found the place very clean and well stocked, in other words who at WD got it right buying out Earth Fare. The prices are very good. One thing I like about this store is that I believe it is based on a limited assortment product business model which makes it much more convenient for shoppers in a hurry.
Meat department (full service) could use some higher end cuts and carry lamb. This is a more affluent area. The former grocer had lamb shanks that they couldn't keep in stock. This is up to the folks at WD, but Halal lamb would do very well. Both Jews and Muslims with strict dietary laws can consume this special lamb.
I have one complaint that cost them one star and I would love to be the lawyer that sues WD! The gondola's (shelves) in the store are too high for older folks. During my last visit, I was asked by a couple elderly ladies if I could reach a item for them.... When putting together any business, you have to think like a lawyer, this sadly, was overlooked. To avoid litigation, I would install a buzzer on every isle for seniors can get help.
Publix sure knows that a clean WD isn't far from there location! I wish WD the best of luck, the recently closed store in Cocoa (Harvey's) was a sewer! I trust management has learned a...
Read moreAs Winn Dixie comes, this one is generally ok, but keep in mind it isn't saying much. I like the deli/cooked foods area the best. Meat department is ok but often poorly managed. The General Manager probably doesn't care or has no idea what the meat manager is doing. They have sausage making on the premises but often they don't have any sausages made or their excuse is that there's a shortage of meat or casings??! I tried to get an exact answer from the meat guy such as..." Ok, when will you make sausages since for the past week during the holidays you haven't had any"? All I get is a blank look... initially I thought he is a meat department guy imposter but no, unfortunately, that's how they run the department. Guy says...all we have is sweet italian. Ok, I get it, how about the other 4 kinds for which you have labels and a sale price? We don't know, he says. Well, no wonder Winn Dixie is out of business. If the whole operation is run like this meat department here in Rockledge/Viera East, I am not...
Read moreI was excited to see what had become of the Earth Fare which was my favorite market. The first thing I noticed was that the aisles seems much more narrow, you used to be able to pass as the aisles were wide but now they are very narrow. The place was packed on opening day, the items I was looking for seemed overpriced, the chicken beast had a freeze by date of May 5th which was the day I visited. As the checkout lines were so long I decided to go elsewhere. Its my mistake to think the place might be anything like it used to be.
My second visit was much better, the store was not jammed packed, i still think the groceries are a little overpriced but all in all i am...
