While the USDA market by Smithsonian draws in all the tourist crowds, CHOP market is more diverse and nicely tucked away in the Reagan International Trade Center plaza right off the Federal Triangle stop.
The 20+ vendors has changed over the years with more ethnic cuisines - Moroccan, Ethiopian, Venezuelan arepas, Asian Bun'd Up and healthier options with VegHeaven and juice station Senzu. Let's not forget dessert with a slew of pastries, baked goods, lemonades, and ice cream concession stands. There's also a strong contender to Timber PIzza - Cipolla Rossa, will have to try it next time! You can pretty much find any type of cuisine here, nice to see new vendors popping up!
True to its name, the Senzu "Refresh" watermelon, mint, and lemon juice was indeed refreshing. The cold-pressed 10 ounce bottle for $5 was just the right amount and a great way to cool off in the scorching summer heat.
The fluffy and powdery chocolate eclair from VegHeaven hit the spot! If I hadn't already had lunch, I was very tempted to get the "vegan fried chicken burger". Next time!
The Oreo ice cream from Inside Scoop's large ice cream truck at the end was the perfect sweet ending to my meal. Had I not had to go back to work, I would have gotten a deliciously messy ice cream sandwich.
