I lived in the Imperial House for over two years, I only moved out because I left the DC area. The building manager, Hawah, along with the front desk and maintenance staff are all fantastic, helpful, and accommodating. The other building residents are respectful and friendly. During the pandemic, the building helped organize volunteers to grocery shop for the more vulnerable tenants in the building. The building recently upgraded the laundry units so you can use an app on your phone to pay and know when your laundry is done. There's also a little book exchange and donation bins for clothes and electronics in the shared laundry space, which is convenient and also just plain cute.
The location is unbeatable -- two blocks from Dupont Circle, the Dupont farmers market, the red line, and only one block from the 17th street restaurant scene. Within walking distance to 14th street and Logan Circle, Downtown, and West End. With 24-hour building security and package pick up, I have always felt safe and deliveries were easy. I'd definitely recommend this building as a wonderful place...
Read moreAfter taking 3 days to process the shooting scare at DC Pride, I can't help but reach out to the Imperial House management team about the lack of humanity I and a group of other parade attendees experienced from your staff last Saturday. In a situation where people are literally running for their lives to find safety and take safe haven in the nearest building we were turned away. A member of your staff held the double doors closed trapping dozens of people, including myself, in your tiny glass vestibule. We all dropped the floor when we could not get in, in hope that wherever the suspected shooter was that we would not be hit with any stray bullets. Many people screaming for help and banging on the door, begging for him to help us find safety. But your staff member remained steadfast and secured the doors shut even tighter. Myself and others were injured in this situation which you can view on the security camera footage. I would hope that in high stress situations and in our current climate, the humanity in us all would kick in and help those in need, not leave...
Read moreThe fact that I've lived here for decades, and served an interminable number of years on the Board should tell you that I LOVE the place. No desire to move at all. Yeah, we had a few rough years recently, but that's all cleared up and we're back to smooth and steady. The staff and management are incredibly friendly and helpful. Building security is top notch and there's 24 hr. concierge service. The fact that, in 90 minutes or less, I can walk to the grocery store, the liquor store, the drug store, get a haircut and then meet friends for drinks or dinner at a great sidewalk cafe, says it all -- LOCATION. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars? It's an older building (1962) and it's not state of the art, but the amenities are as good as you'll get for a building this age in this neighborhood (there's nothing newer this close to the...
