My 4 children started here January 2023. My youngest was only 1 when she started. Since turning 2 she was placed into the twos class with a teacher named āHeatherā. Since moving to this classroom she has been coming home with bruises that resemble adult hand prints on her upper arms multiple times, she has told me these are from her teacher āMrs Heatherā. Daily she has come home telling me this teacher is mean to her, that she has hit her on the head back arm, & mouth. Every morning since moving to this class my child would freak out crying that she didnāt want to go into this class. Sheās never done this before.
My child has gone to the other location since she was 6 weeks old. My other children went to the other location for 5 years and never once have I dealt with child abuse. Of course thereās accidents especially with other children but Iāve never had an adult childcare worker abuse my children until now.
Iāve spoken to Dylan, and Stephanie the directors of this location, almost every single day for the last 5 months regarding this teacher. The response I always get is just āOkayā or āWeāll speak to herā. Nothing has been done. They just sit back playing around or decorating the front office.
Iāve asked every week that my child stay out of this class. They agreed they would but havenāt. Another time Iāve asked they said thatās hard to do because of the classroom ratios which I understand, however I then asked that she never be alone with her. Yet she has been daily. They tell me sheās not in her class but her cups and jackets are somehow always in that class at pickup, and I receive multiple notifications throughout the day that sheās being moved to that classroom and that this teacher is changing her, feeding her, or taking her to the playground.
This teacher does absolutely nothing interactive or educational with these children. She sits in the classroom the whole day doing nothing but sitting there with sunglasses on ignoring all of the kids. My childrenās last week I picked them up and had to get my childās cup from the class which was filled with some sort of foggy water. She told me Heather had given her this water. When I got home and opened the cup to clean it, it was filled with watered down spoiled milk that she had given my child to drink, the smell was absolutely disgusting. I tried to confront her the next day but she wouldnāt look up or respond. The directors response was that my daughter wasnāt even in that class, yet somehow her cup was.
I have removed my children from this daycare due to the incompetence of the directors. The lack of accountability. The neglect and abuse, and the overall disrespect from the staff towards myself and my children. Please do not take your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDiscovery Playhouse in Washington has been amazing! The staff is not only friendly but also deeply thoughtful and respectful. You can genuinely sense the love and dedication from the caregivers. They truly enjoy their roles, which adds to the warmth of the atmosphere.
My specific needs and parenting style are always heard and respected, with the staff going above and beyond to accommodate requests within reason. This level of consideration makes it easy to trust them with my child's care and development.
The environment itself is welcoming and conducive to learning, growth, and play. There is a wide variety of age appropriate toys. They have an outside space, when weather permits, allowing for some fresh air and sunshine. The have a troller stroller that the littles can take a ride around the facility in, giving them some new things to see and experience.
Overall, I couldnāt be more pleased with my experience at Discovery Playhouse. Itās a place where my child is not only cared for but also truly valued. I would highly recommend it to other parents looking for a daycare that combines care, respect, and a genuine love for children.
I want to give a shout-out to some of our favorite caregivers. Nicole is calm, caring, and helpful. Morgan is cheerful, welcoming, and sincere. Heather is bubbly, energetic, and playful. Rachel (the admin) is kind, respectful, and caring. Thank you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDespite my last review. My kids attended discovery kids daycare for 3 years. In that timeframe the manager Kelsie was a fabulous individual. As well as the office staff. Then about a week before I moved out of St George, I showed up to pick up my two daughters and my little one was locked, inside a daycare van for 20 minutes. She was too little to get out and it was 88 degrees outside. Having my daughter say to me, mommy I thought I was going to die was the worst feeling I ever had. Then I worked with Kelsie about resolving this issue and telling her the bus driver McKayla that FORGOT my daughter needed to by fired. She is not fired, and still works at the facility. Iām sorry, but I need to warn the other mothers out there. i understand mistakes happen, but there needs to be consequences for those mistakes. A childs life, isnāt an oops. its not forgetting a happy meal in the drive thru. They didnāt check head count, they didnāt even realize she was gone. Another parent saw her in the van and helped her inside. Had they not- who knows what could have happened. Like I said the manager is amazing, but the fact that girl is still employed at that facility is...
