Where to start.... Maybe the good first? Passport has a lot of furniture that I really like, at a reasonable price. Sadly, that is where the good ends.
So far, I have made several purchases at Passport. As of yet, I have enjoyed everything I have purchased. The first purchase went about as expected. The second purchase was where the problems began. I was talked into buying a couch site unseen that they already had on order under the condition that when it arrived, if it was not what I was looking for, then they would refund the purchase since they had already ordered it. This sounded reasonable to me. It did finally arrive several weeks late, but I afforded them some extra leeway due to the Covid 19 pandemic and it's affect on many different industries. I went to look at the couch at their warehouse once it arrived. They were friendly there and I was able to see the couch. It was what I was looking for so I told them I would like it, and that it was already paid for. They told me that they just needed to confirm with the store and then would call me to set up delivery. About a week went by without hearing from anyone. After a couple of attempts to reach passport we were finally granted a call back with information. We were told the couch would arrive soon and then they would set up delivery. We explained that it was already there and we had seen it in person and approved it. They apologized and told us that the warehouse would contact us to set up delivery. After another week of calling to to see when this would happen delivery was finally set up and the couch was delivered.
This was not even what I consider to be the worst purchase there. After several years of looking I finally found a bed set there that I wanted. After standing around in the store for about 30 minutes watching employees just chatting with each other, went back to the front desk and asked to please have someone come help me as I was ready to place an order. Finally, the bed gets ordered. I was told 6 to 8 weeks before they would have it due to covid. Sometime around 10 weeks or so, after multiple calls to get s status update, the bed finally arrived, but not the nightstands. I was told if they delivered the bed, then they would have to charge me again for delivery of the nightstands so I decided to wait. It was several more weeks, and multiple unreturned calls, before the nightstands finally arrived. Delivery date was finally set and I was just happy to finally be getting my bed set. The afternoon of delivery I received a call saying that the bed had shipped with the wrong rails, so they were going to have to postpone delivery and have new rails expedited. After a few more weeks, and yet again, multiple promised call backs that never happened, the bed rails were finally in. The warehouse is actually the one to call me and notify me. I was told they just needed to clear with the store and then they would set delivery. Fast forward another 2 weeks, and after more unreturned calls, finally they told me that the footboard was damaged (first time I had heard this) and I was able to get them to agree to delivering the bed set and then bringing the footboard to change out once it arrived. It has now been several weeks since that, and of course, not a peep. This bed order has been a 6 month plus ordeal now. They said 8 to 10 weeks, and using a conservative estimate we are now at over 24 weeks. In fact, the 6 month no interest financing is now over, and I still don't have my full order.
I would have actually given Passport Furnishings only 1 star, but I do like the stuff they choose to inventory. Additionally, through the massive and repeated lack of communication on their end, they have always actually been polite with me.
My recommendation if you decide not to just skip going in there at all (which you probably should) is to only make a purchase there if it is in stock, I would even go so far as to say you might want to make sure you see it, and just take it...
Read moreBeware! They have a strict 7 day return policy and will not return items even if there is something wrong! They have some cute stuff but after actually purchasing a dining table and chair I question the quality. One side of the dining table wouldn’t close all the way with the leaf inserted and 3 of our chairs are wobbly. I told them as soon as we noticed just 10 days after getting our set and was told to email them. I waited a week and never got a response so called back. Was then told it was too long to return it now but they would have someone come look if there’s a defect. I waited another week and never heard back. Called again and someone came out. There was a minor defect making one side uneven to close all the way was told we would hear back if we could return. Again never heard back. Called again to follow up after a week. Was told we had the furniture too long to return now! The frustrating part is that they were the reason so much time had passed and they said the table didn’t have a defect but it did! I asked about the wobbly chairs and it was suggested I figure out how to fix it myself. I said no I don’t have time to learn how to repair furniture and shouldn’t have to repair brand new furniture then was told I could bring it there. I could only fit one chair at a time in my van so this wasn’t easy to do especially having a newborn baby and 3 other kids. While there they just kept explaining it was past 7 days return policy and too much time had passed which again wasn’t my fault. I never got a follow up response from them any time during this whole thing. I always had to be the one to keep calling and ultimately never got the issue resolved. 👎 They wanted me to resend more of the same pictures and basically go through the process again to in my opinion draw out the process longer so they could once again say too much time had passed. It was a circle that never ends with these guys. They make it seem like your the problem when they are the ones dropping the ball. They should have checked things were good when they set it up and they should have responded in a timely manner but some how it’s my fault I didn’t catch the defect sooner, it’s my fault time went by when no one was responding. Terrible customer service! I agree with other reviews that they are unfriendly and unwelcoming when you are shopping as well.
Update and response: The response from the company let’s me further know there are issues with communication. Somehow the issues we were having got lost in translation between emailing and calling so many people and getting redirected so many times. The last day they said they didn’t even know our chairs were having issues. I may have briefly mentioned we were moving and would like to return it and pick a new table for our new space but it was never the issue and it’s not too big.
