The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) plays a vital role in keeping all of us safe from financial predators looking to make a quick buck. Established in 1934 after the stock market crash of 1929, the SEC's mission is clear: protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation. They enforce federal securities laws that require companies to tell the truth about their business and the risks involved in investing. The SEC also regulates brokers, dealers, and investment advisors to ensure they treat investors honestly and fairly. Through vigilant enforcement, the SEC deters fraud, holds wrongdoers accountable, and provides transparency, leveling the playing field for all investors. I have the utmost respect for the dedicated men and women of this organization who tirelessly protect our financial markets. It’s crucial that in today’s political climate, the SEC is not gutted but continues its essential work safeguarding people’s investments and trust in the system. Their diligent efforts help sustain economic stability and...

It's gotta be closed. Or is it still summer break?
