When I entered the restaurant, it didn’t look like much. It certainly didn’t look the same as the photos I’ve seen online. There was only one person working when I arrived and the customer service was not that great. He wasn’t rude but he wasn’t polite and welcoming either. Didn’t smile, I informed him it was my first time visiting the restaurant and he pointed to the menu, which was fine but he didn’t inform me of any well-known/best selections. However, there wasn’t much to pick from (rice, butter chicken, cheese spinach, bread, and chickpeas) and that’s exactly what I ordered, and a premade mango smoothie. There was way more rice than there was chicken. I counted about 5-6 pieces of chicken which I broke into pieces so that I could have more with all the rice he gave me. The chickpeas were too hard for me personally and didn’t really have any flavor. The chicken was delicious. I didn’t taste any cheese in the spinach, the bread was great despite some burnt parts. Honestly, the best part was the mango smoothie. I should’ve got two because it was gone by the time I arrived home!! It’s more like a smooth, sweet, creamy mango dessert rather than a fruit smoothie with ice but it’s delicious!! I would definitely order it again if my sweet tooth was craving something sweet!!

In the heart of DC, the Butter Chicken Company crafts a culinary credo with a menu more curated than a museum exhibit, featuring just five main entrées. Their pièce de résistance, the Butter Chicken, is a creamy tableau of tomatoes, butter, curry, and spices, delivering a performance that's quietly confident in its mild heat yet bold flavors. The Vegetable Biryani plays a vibrant supporting role, a spice-laden basmati rice ensemble cast with garden-fresh veggies, proving that sides can sometimes steal the spotlight. And the Mango Lassi? Not merely a beverage, but a sweet, creamy antidote to the spice, harmonizing the meal with its refreshing embrace. With a tight-knit lineup, the Butter Chicken Company champions the 'less is more' philosophy, turning a focused menu into an exploration of Indian culinary excellence. Overall, high marks to this gem, where the casual atmosphere and quick service make this a perfect lunch spot to dine alone or for a quick catch up with friends. Butter Chicken Company is a reminder that in the realm of flavors, simplicity often wins the day.

We tried the butter chicken plate. It is a big plate and too much for one person. Sharing between the two will be better. Very healthy and good for the nearby office going people. They sold out very quick, so plan accordingly. Compared to other butter chicken masala, the gravy is less in heavy cream, but tastes good and goes great with both rice and naan. The chicken pieces were very tender, moist and from the thigh part, very tasty. But just for guidance, * the butter chicken is in the sweeter and tangier side * the chicken tikka masala is in the spicy side Unlike other lunch combo, it comes with a whole naan and they are very fresh. The mango lassi (real mango and yogurt) is also tasty and a must try. The price is great and very good when you are around the DC area.

Massively Disappointing "Butter Chicken" and Awful Service:

I had a truly terrible experience with Butte Chicken Company in DC. Having ordered a standard tray including rice, their so-called "butter chicken," cheese spinach, bread, and chickpeas, I can honestly say the food was a major letdown. The "butter chicken" was particularly offensive. It tasted nothing like authentic butter chicken and was far from the rich, flavorful dish I was expecting. The other items were equally underwhelming, and the portion size for the price of $16.50 felt incredibly stingy given the poor quality. This meal was a complete waste of money. To add insult to injury, the customer service was atrocious. There was no greeting whatsoever, not even a simple "hello." The staff simply took my order and payment with zero acknowledgment or interaction. It was a cold and unwelcoming experience from start to finish. If you're looking for real, authentic butter chicken, steer clear of this place. Butte Chicken Company delivers neither on taste nor on basic customer service. They will only waste your time and money if you're expecting a genuinely enjoyable Indian meal. I strongly advise...
