Great spot to drop in for a coffee or emergency groceries! They don't have everything and what they do have is expensive, but they usually have eggs and basics like that. Lots of gourmet snacks. And wine! My only complaint is that they're often sold out of oat milk. I've tried the sunflower milk they stock and it's not my fave. Pretty cramped inside but they have a great patio in the warmer months. Right now they set up a little bistro table inside since it's so cold out. I love dogs but I am grateful that dogs stay outside so they're not mixed up with the food. There is a doggy "parking spot" right outside the door.

A unique local eat, Union kitchen puts some down-home flair on some big city eats. Great prices for a variety of freshly made sandwiches. Locally sourced baked goods and chocolates will round out your lunch or dinner with some sweet eats. A great place to go for a quick bite. Even with limited seating, the atmosphere is laid back and you can have your sandwiche before your on the move again. Both thumbs waaaaay up!

I had the turkey club and it's humongous! My picture is of half the turkey club. It was delicious; if I ordered it again, I'd ask for less mayo; otherwise, very satisfied. I love this place. Great place to explore interesting new foods and ingredients. Wish there were more corner stores of all price points in the city.

I feel lucky that Union Kitchen Grocery is in my neighborhood (Well, more than less. You can easily take a Capital Bikeshare from Capitol Hill East to Union Kitchen Grocery). Powered by DC's beloved Union Kitchen, Union Kitchen Grocery is like a hipster/yuppie bodega. It's close to Union Station and comes complete with DC made products and organic and natural products. If you need some fresh produce or a package of Krave beef jerky, this is your place. They also carry DC local products like Compass Coffee and Honest Tea (started and run just outside of DC in Bethesda). They even have a section that sells basic necessities like cold medicine and more artsy goods like DC art and cards.

The best thing about Union Kitchen Grocery, is that it is a coffee shop too brewing the best of Compass Coffee. My latte was on par with DC favorites like Maketto and Peregrine and my fresh out of the oven giant chocolate chip cookie was the BEST I've had in DC. They have one area of bar seating by the window that seats 6 (or 4 comfortably). They offer free, strong wifi.

To add the icing on the cake, they also support my favorite DC politicians (like...

Title: Adorable Coffee & Sandwich Spot — The Highlight of My DC Trip!

We stumbled upon this adorable little coffee, sandwich, and grocery spot and it instantly became the highlight of our trip to DC. The place has a warm, neighborhood feel — cozy seating, friendly staff, and a charming aesthetic that makes you want to linger.

The coffee was excellent: perfectly brewed and full of flavor. The sandwiches were fresh, well-crafted, and clearly made with quality ingredients — the perfect combo for a quick bite or a relaxed lunch. I also loved browsing the small grocery selection for local snacks and treats.

Service was welcoming and personal, and the prices felt fair for the quality. Whether you’re starting your day, taking a break between sightseeing, or picking up something tasty to-go, this spot is a must-visit....

This is my neighborhood store. When I need coffee, sandwich, something quick on the way home from work this is where I go. Their coffee is solid (better than the place around the corner for sure), prepared food is very tasty and there are about 3 sandwiches that are so good I can't seem to buy a different one! But what stands out the most are the people. They know my name and I know theirs. They are good honest people and hard workers who take the time to make you feel welcomed. In a world that seems to be becoming more and more abstract and divorced from simple human to human relationships it's as much a beacon of home that a corner store can be. Over the top review- yes but they've been my place for years so they earned...
