I dislike writing reviews on a large company that probably has many nice locations. However the West Bend store is horrible! Pre - pandemic I went to get produce and noticed that the two large pallet bins of mellon's were all rotten. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know mellon's are bad if you can poke a hole or have cracks down it with fruit flies coming out. I told the produce clerk twice to pull the bad ones from the bins and the few I saw on the display since I couldn't get to any good one in the bin. Did my other shopping...an hour later went back to pick a fresh mellon and surprise...still the exact same mellons as when I left. It took talking to the store manager to get them to pull the fruit off the floor. This happened twice in the same year. Post pandemic my fiance an I decided to try some of their clothes. It was 6:30pm when she was grabbing items she liked. Two employees were walking around grabbing all the sale signs around me because the sale ended that next morning. Some items my fiance took had a sign that was no longer there and asked if they could quick tell her what the sale sign read but was told they don't have time to look for the sign even though it was the 2nd or 3rd one on the pile. Then told ME to go find someone to check the price. Third time's a charm right? Guess not! Went for clothes again but during the day so the signs would still be up. My fiance bought a bunch of bathing suits, all from one rack...all the same brand, that had a sale sign above it. None came off on sale so I informed customer service what happened and was told that only one brand was on sale. The particular brand that was not on the rack! The employee said perhaps there had been some of that brand on there some day and nobody took the sign down. Didn't get a sorry or we will give you the sale price listed for the misunderstanding. nope! Just was told to read the sign better. Perhaps the store shouldn't put a sale sign on a rack that has no product on sale! What a joke...
Read moreOk then. No generic instant light charcoal, so no real choice except the expensive Kingsford brand.
Meat department: shelves were not wiped, and no towels to wipe the blood off my hands. There were bags to put the bloody package in, but after the fact since I had already picked up the package. I could sort of understand if what I purchased was clearance meat but it wasn't, so thumbs down there.
Sliced italian bread in the specialty bread area: $1.00 for a very small package. Terrible. That same dollar buys twice the size at Walmart. Fail.
Customer service: some 16/17 year old millennial that didn't say hello, good day, nothing. Didn't ask if I had an "M" card, bagged my groceries with zero discernment, and when I put my perfectly good credit card in the reader it couldn't read the chip. I swiped it, okay, then wanted me to insert the chip, ok, so I did, and still wouldn't read the chip. Millennial boy tells me that it sometimes takes three attempts. Really? How's about a new reader then? Kid didn't say thank you, or even acknowledge the end of the transaction, which was completed using a different card.
I left Walmart because of their insistence on pushing patrons to the scan and go as opposed to human beings. I'm already regretting that decision.
Two days ago I was in your store and bought a couple of items I needed. The young lady (yet another clueless millennial), no hello, nothing. It was obvious that she hadn't bathed, washed her hair or bothered with clean clothing. She handed me my receipt without even looking at me, and, again, no thank you.
I didn't judge your store harshly at that time. Figured she was an exception, not the rule. Not this time.
I hate that I have to go back to Walmart. Lesser of two evils...
Read moreJust happened to on a short road trip in the West Bend area today and decided to get my shopping completed before returning home. Meijer is always one of my go-to-stores especially for food supplies.
When I entered, I noticed a clean and organized store. Shelves, racks and aisles were neat and clean. The checkouts were open and running and looked like the self-checkouts were working without any issues.
As I walked through the store everything appeared to be in its place and one could easily find the associated price for the product.
My main focus today was on groceries and the grocery area was well illuminated and the aisles were not cramped, this allowed two people with carts to pass by each other in one aisle at the same time. I was extremely impressed with the "refrigerator style" door on most of the dairy products, this helped keep the area from becoming too cold and probably saves a lot of energy as well.
Overall, everything I needed was available and at the expected price I also used my coupons at the checkout and had a friendly associate pack up my purchases when checking out.
Most definitely this is a great option for your shopping needs whether it be just groceries, pet supplies, clothing, electronics, home goods, yard/garden, sporting goods, health care, etc.. I think you would be pleased with the selection and the ability to compare products as well. I would definitely suggest a look at this store if you are in the...
