If I could I would leave no stars. Unfortunately our date night experience was ruined before it could begin. We had a 5:30pm reservation and arrived at 5:20pm. We decided to go to the bar to grab a drink before we started mini golfing. We ordered two drinks with one of them supersized. We paid in cash $40. The change the bar staff gave us was $4. That didn’t sit right with us because we both work in the industry. How could two drinks cost $36… when one drink was $11. We included the $4 of change back into the tip. My boyfriend politely went over twice after the original transaction, to question the amount of change he received. Each time the bar staffer who took our order turned their back to him and ignored him until it wasn’t possible to miss the one person standing at the bar. Both times my boyfriend was questioning the total the bar staffer declined to share the bill total when asked. The third time my boyfriend went up to the bar staffer he ask for the receipt and the staffer couldn’t provide a receipt so another bar staffer re-rang our order in to see what our total was. The change we were supposed to receive was $12 making our total $28. The original bar staffer that took our order confidently said that was the change that was given to us. The bar staffer then began to count out the extra change that we were supposed to be given and my boyfriend said the bar staffer could keep $6 as their tip. The bar staffer then proceeded to throw the other $6 at my boyfriend. This is incredibly upsetting as I work in the industry right down the street. This type of behavior occurring in wicker park during wicker fest should have a business feeling EMBARRESSED, for letting their employees feel entitled to treat paying customers like this. Individuals like this in the industry ruin the tipping culture and are the reason that people don’t tip. I can’t help but feel this incident was racially motivated as my boyfriend is Mexican. He was the only individual in the bar that wasn’t white, myself included. This all occurred BEFORE we even started our game of mini golf. We played about 2-3 holes but continued to realize how unprofessional and pathetic this incident was and left. If we ever treated a guest like that the penalty would be termination yet this individual of your staff felt that they deserved a shot of whiskey after the fact. I hope people read this review and choose to never step foot in this establishment or your other...
