The short: great and service at a very affordable price in a laid-back atmosphere.
The long: Having used to work across the street from this place over two decades ago, I always wondered about it. Having said this, it both dates me, but more importantly, shows the lasting power of this restaurant.
During this time, the shop has remained a constant in this area along with Jewel's. Both shops within their time have gone through renovations to look modern and inviting to the ever changing demographics of the neighborhood.
Given the location, the changing of the CTA bus stop to the other side of the street now placing it in front of Falafel and Grill I'm sure must've been quite a boone to them without practically guaranteed foot traffic to feed those who are hungry from working downtown.
However, knowing about this location for so long, I haven't set foot inside till recently. A friend from the Northside had recommended we eat here despite the cold weather outside and the ever tempting restaurants on the way.
The menu while short on options means that they're very concentrated on delivering on their strengths. Contrary to popular belief of focusing on your weaknesses, delivering consistently on your strengths while building upon it is how this shop operates.
I ordered a skewer dinner and was given a lovely spread of food that I was simply too amazed and hungry to remember to take photos of for this review. It was a fantastic show of quality in the ingredients and nicely executed.
Needless to say, I left feeling full happily having broken my fast with this.
This restaurant comes highly recommended and would absolutely...
Read moreI’m against leaving bad reviews when mistakes happen or there’s one bad experience, but this place has repeatedly shown itself to be incompetent at this point. We love the food and specifically the sauce. As is customary when you order $30 plate you get typically 1 of each sauce (garlic/hot/tahini/whatever), great. Fantastic. Now you also have the option to order extra sauces for $0.50 a piece. Spectacular, I do it every single time. Now please tell me why every single time, without fail, i get the exact number of sauces that I paid for as extra, and none of the sauces that come with the $30 plate if you order it alone? Regardless of ordering by phone, or online, or even ordering online and leaving a note saying ‘extra’, whatever the case, it is the same result. At this point I am convinced it is intentional. Either that or the clearly always high as a kite staff is so stoned they can’t count. No more getting home, opening up the food and being betrayed, goodbye falaffel and grill,...
Read moreGreat food and very poor service.
My father in law and I ordered two chicken shawarma sandwiches for $20.
I asked for garlic souse and hot souse the guy gave them to me for free. On my way back to our table I accidentally dropped the garlic souse on the floor so I went back to the guy and asked for another garlic souse and I explained to him what happened. At that point he rolled his eyes and told me very rudely that I have to pay $0.55 for it.
I asked him so you give the first one for free and if I accidentally drop it I have to pay for the second one? He said "YES" very rudely!!! and I said ok that's fine and I paid.
It was weird situation . I don't mind paying for the souse, it won't break the bank lol. My issue is with how you treat your customers and how you run the business. It is either give the souse for free or put it on the menu and we will pay for it. And no need for the attitude!
I hope the owner read this and work on improving the service because the food was...
