Really loved this place. Had the pork carnitas & the grilled rib eye tacos. Very tasty & different. The tower of chilli cheese curds looked amazing! Be prepared to wait, went on a Sunday night & there was a line out the door. The furnishings are sparse, but they now bring your food to your table. Going to go back to try the crispy fish tempura & garlic shrimp tacos as well as the chilli cheese curds. Well worth the money & you don't need more than 2 tacos. #CityExperts @GoogleLocalCHI
Update: Hadn't been here in a while, decided to return and see if it was as good as I remembered.
The decor is casually ecclectic, with a mix of rustic wood and antique items. With long table seating and an outdoor patio for nice weather days.
Antique taco offers creatively unique tacos and Mexican food. There are many choices on the menu and I want to try them all.
We started off with the guacamole with chips $6. We then ordered the crispy fish tacos (2 per order $8) and consisted of alaskan codd, tempura, spicy tartar, smoked cabbage, scallions and sesame. We also ordered the crab and shrimp flautas (3 per order $12). They consist of jumbo lump crab, white shrimp, cabbage, spicy mayo, queso, radish, tajin, and lemon.
I recommend that you skip the chips and guacamole. The chips are nothing special and way too may of them, while the guacamole was good, but way too little of it.
Both dishes were excellent, except that there was too much sauce on both of them and they were too spicy. I would suggest that you ask for a smaller portion of sauce or on the side.
There is self serve water available as well as beer, drinks both juice and spirits
Prices and portions of both entrees were good, we will return here again to try the garlic shrimp and pork...
Read moreWe stopped today and this location after many times to form a nice review and tell you exactly how is in the end after the three visits with that we order a kale salad with the salad was fresh but all the condiments in the salad included shrimp that we ordered with shrimp it was all the way in the bottom and the top you don’t see anything except guess the kale in in the past and the last two visits before is salad coming with cranberries, and this time, it was no cranberries. We order three tacos the Carnitas they was pretty good the tacos but misrepresentative for Carnitas most like it is anti taco home version, and Cocinita pipil if we go for that description, there was very good tacos steak taco we order one and the menu say skirt steak. That meat was very tough flavorless most like it I can say is not a score steak it is another kind of meat, but the marinated and the tenderized can pass for a skirt steak for people don’t have the pallet to identify the kind of meat definitely I skipped the steak. Taco recommended the Carnitas and the salad. The only problem with the salad. It was a presentation was very skinny service was very slow and for some reason, I have that feeling like the people who work over there it is more like a they just wanted to throw it to you the food and don’t put attention and anything else. I think customer service is very poor and the situation atmosphere is OK music from the 80s no Mexican music I guess as go with the flow my point is you can come and give me the shot and think and you see what you like from that place but this is basis and 3B things I did to...
Read moreImmediately loved the placed seeing the cute dessert scene mural on the side of the brick building, and upon entry seeing that the motif was continued made me very happy. I was overwhelmed in a good way by the menu because I wanted to try them all, but decided on the “Sweet Potato & Poblano” and the “Garlic Shrimp”. Was disappointed to here that they had recently changed the sweet potato to regular potatoes but that didn’t last long after tasting them. Both of my taco choices were very tasty I loved the crunch of the potato chips on top of the Potato & Poblano and the fried kale on the Garlic Shrimp. Both my tacos had a great balance of flavor and texture, very unique and very tasty. Not being a traditional sit-down place, I wasn’t expecting much for service but was delightfully surprised on how kind and helpful the person taking our orders and delivering them were. My friend is a vegetarian and we were unsure about one of the tacos and they wee very helpful. Our food came out in a timely manner and we were asked to make sure everything was right and our plates were cleared before we left. While both the atmosphere and food were spectacular I especially like the sustainability aspect of the restaurant. Unlike many quick services places they had regular glassware and silverware available and cloth napkins. An added bonus was the cute succulents on each table. I very much enjoyed my dining experience there and will go back in the future. It is a trendy yet affordable place in Chicago which is hard to come by, defiantly recommend next time you are in...
