DWR Fulton Market — Local services in West Chicago Township

After a difficult on-line experience ordering an Eames chair and ottoman, I somehow got routed to this DWR store in Chicago. I live in San Francisco, and frankly, the service there has often been challenging. From the moment Kate Garrigan answered the phone, my prayers had been answered. At last - a bright light on the other end of the phone. She was amazing! So bright, so competent, so accommodating. In my 15 years of ordering furniture from DWR (furnishing 2 homes, an office, and giving gifts to family members), my interaction with Kate was above and beyond all the rest. And everything she promised to do, she did, and somehow was able to get a desk chair delivered earlier than the desk chair I had ordered online two weeks prior. And this was at Christmas time! In that on-line experience, there was an error in the gift order and when I noticed it, and called the on-line number, I was told I needed to cancel the one and then re-order another. I did, but apparently the order did not cancel and I received an extra chair. I reached out to Kate, and she immediately resolved the issue with having it picked up. She was so nice about it. And it wasn't even ordered through her store! Sorry about this long review, but I must say that from now on, I will order only from Kate at the Chicago Fulton Market. I will tell my friends and my clients. As someone in the service business, and as a salesperson, I can say without reservation that Kate is the best "salesperson/consultant" with whom I have ever worked. Design Within Reach was a delightful experience. I hate shopping, especially in stores and even worse the pressure of a sales person. The office chair I had at home was good for paying bills, but once I was moved to a WFH situation and am now spending several hours in the chair, I simply knew it was time to get a real chair or a chiropractor and so I went to Design Within Reach. Benjamin quickly saw the "what am I doing here" look on my face and swiftly took control. I am awful at decision making but without the typical pressure you might find within a sales associate, Benjamin was able to describe the different chairs and help guide this indecisive person to a chair that would suit my needs. I no longer need a chiropractor, the purchase process was simplistic, and a few days later the chair showed up fully assembled (another perk for someone that isn't mechanically inclined, though I do swear I have some qualities, but this isn't a dating profile). Michael Stewart provided excellent service. I recently purchased three outdoor Hay pieces, and Michael was great to work with. He answered all my initial questions in a timely manner, and got the order in quickly which allowed be to participate in a sale on delivery fees. He kept me updated when production delays occurred, which I really appreciated. One of the three pieces arrived with an issue (bent leg), and as soon as I let Michael know, he apologized and promised it would be remedied immediately. And it was - my replacement lounge sofa was delivered last Friday, and the original one was whisked away. All three pieces are perfect - exactly what we were looking for, and exceeded my expectations in every way.
