This is a review for the Tuesday evening Farmers Market on The Green
VENDORS There are a limited number of vendors. Today the offerings included Tony’s Pot Pies: butter chicken and crust/ dough was amazing, vegan option also available. Takes 20 min but Tony finds you when it’s done! Tamales Express: had the Chicken + Mole which was good but a little on the dry side. I like the pork tamale better (it had a little sweetness and was more moist then the other tamale) Other vendors included Canal Street Market which offered bread and pastries (they also have a full service restaurant w/ patio seating there); hot sauce; gifts, resin art, tote bags; banana pudding, sweet potato dish, etc; local honey, cookies, juices, jewelry from Turkey, regenerative vegetables (mostly leafy greens); free poetry, and more; there’s also a full service bar which opens up onto patio seating
AMENITIES This is what makes The Green so fantastic. There’s a cart of board games and a basket of picnic blankets you can borrow. The grass is green and well kept, and there’s a sign that no dogs are allowed. There’s foosball, a ping pong table, bags, and frisbees. There’s all kinds of places to sit - tables and chairs, lounge chairs, ledges all around the park, and sitting on the grass is encouraged.
AMBIANCE It seems to attract a mix of families as well as people relaxing with friends and coworkers after work. It’s basically this oasis nestled in between tall buildings. It’s right near Union Station but one of the buildings kind of hides it so it’s like a gem hidden in plain sight. If you want to converse with friends, I would suggest getting a table on the side of the park opposite the band. The music will be at a nice volume level where you can...
Read moreI feel like the park at 320 S. Canal is one of Chicago's hidden gems for outdoor events. The Park is beautiful. Really well-maintained space that brings a touch of nature to the heart of the city. I am regularly in the area for work, and whether it’s yoga, the farmers market, live music, it seems like there’s always something fun to do with a very friendly vibe. The atmosphere is super welcoming and the attention to detail in both the landscaping and the events they put on is pretty incredible. It’s a great spot to relax, sit down for lunch, meet friends and just enjoy Chicago's downtown energy in a peaceful green setting. They're way ahead of the curve in creating a great third space here. Highly recommend stopping by to see it...
Read moreThe Green at 320 South Canal is a much-needed and wonderful addition to the West Loop! The park feels far removed from the city's hustle and bustle, despite being in the heart of it all. Whether you're seeking a peaceful respite during your lunch break or an after-work adventure with friends and colleagues, The Green at 320 is the perfect spot! Every week, they host a number of exciting events. My favorite has been the Tuesday Farmers Market. They also regularly offer live music and exercise classes – all for free! Additionally, there are a few bar/restaurant spots that overlook the park. Highly recommend checking out The...
