MY DOG IS TRAUMATIZED.
Healthy Spot - if you're reading this, you've had my contact information for years. Feel free to reach out and attempt to make things right!
I've tried to move on from the incident, but it's been over a year and my dog is still severely impacted.
I brought my 1 year old 9lb Havanese in for a shave. About 40 mins into the grooming session, I got a call from Healthy Spot saying there had been an accident and she's at the animal hospital from a cut on her leg.
4 stitches later in her little puppy arm, she hasn't been the same since. The cry she cried when I showed up to the animal hospital was the saddest thing ever.
To top it off, she now bites ME after the experience she had there; it's heartbreaking. I love my little puppy so much, I've never given her a reason to fear me.....until I brought her to Healthy Spot. She lost trust in me that day - ugh, writing that out makes me cry a little.
I've had to put her on daily anti-anxiety medication, which has helped a bit, but every now and again, she will get triggered if you're near her injured leg and will bit the heck out of your hand (she bit me yesterday which is what sparked my already existing anger towards Healthy Spot so figured I could at least write a review).
First, why on earth are you using scissors for a shave and HOW are you using those scissors to cause that much damage?? Healthy Spot told me "the groomer was moving too fast."
Healthy Spot paid for the vet bill (however, they still haven't paid for the follow up after her injury got infected). I also asked them to give me some pajamas/body suit because she was depressed in the cone, and she also wasn't eating so I asked if there was any food Healthy Spot could give me that dogs usually gobble down quickly because its so good lol. I also suggested they provide professional training to help my dog get through this.
They gave me a goodie bag of food and some pajamas. The staff and management in store were very nice, and my anger isn't with them - It's with upper management.
I had a few follow up calls from upper management (after I had reached out many times) asking how my pup is doing. Those stopped after a month or so. Nothing about the training.
I handled the entire situation calmly and was empathetic to the fact accidents happen. I'm starting to wonder if I should have been angrier. In fact, whenever I tell the story people say "OMG, are you going to sue them?!" Well, I'm not that kind of person and I just want my dog to be happy again, what's suing going to do?
But here I am a year or so later, no groomer will take her because she will attack the heck out of them, she's even had to go under anesthesia once for a groom, she now bites which means I need to be concerned she could bite other people (not just me) and now I'm training myself to be a groomer. I have to put a muzzle on her, she's on daily medication, my finger is getting infected as I type from the bite yesterday -- she's absolutely, and rightfully, terrified (and I'm absolutely heartbroken). She needs professional help and I don't think it's unfair for me to think Healthy Spot should be proactive and offer to pay for services to help my dog get back to how she was - TRAUMA. FREE.
I also noticed there was a class action lawsuit against Healthy Spot Grooming...
The incident that happened to my dog happened AFTER the class action lawsuit closed. All to say, I would be careful bringing my dog there (to any Healthy Spot). My dog is...
Read moreHealthy Spot corporate manager called and agreed to fix the wrongful report about my dog, we also got reimbursed for the package we paid ahead. Thanks Previous message-We have been loyal clients since Lola arrived to USA from Europe, almost 7 years ago. Always happy with the service provided by the team at the Beverly Location. Unfortunately, a while ago there was something going on there that we ended up going to the one in Santa Monica Blvd ( location open a few years after Beverly Blvd) To our surprise, we left our dog and a day after we received a phone call from a very rude assistant manager, He also wrote an unlawful report about my 8 pounds Yorkie. He blandly accused my dog of being aggressive. I called back to the store and he declined to talked to me, so I went in person with my dog to find out the mistake, then he was even ruder. He got confused and said, “you see your dog keeps barking “ pointing to another Yorkie inside the day care… I said, Look my dog is here by my side behind the counter, and she is not even barking. Hilarious, not quite! She is a HS client for many years without any complaints. He never apologised and kept the wrong report on file. We went back after a while to the Beverly location, we spoke about the incident with the team, they observed Lola’s behaviour for days, their response was, she is absolutely happy and fine. Yesterday, we went back to SaMo Blvd location, since our preferred location is out of business. Another manager refused to accept my dog for daycare, based on what that awful person wrongfully wrote about my dog. We requested full prepaid package refund, she said someone will call us, well no-one have call us yet ! Or they will? I doubt Feel free to reach out and attempt to make things right Management! We read about people’s complaints and a class action lawsuit against Healthy Spot Grooming...what is...
Read moreDo not trust these people with your pet. We sent our dog in to be groomed. He came home clean but kept scratching his ear and shaking his head. We thought he may be a little itchy from getting a fresh bath. I didn’t think much of it because he appeared fine and was full of energy. Within the next 24 hours he continued to act more and more irritated. As he was sitting on the bed the next day I saw what looked like a piece of lint hanging from his ear. As I went to pull it away from his fur and I realized it was connected to a huge cotton ball that was shoved so deep in his ear that I had to hold him down, and with tweezers slowly pull this giant impacted cotton ball out. He was miserable during this ( movin around, whimpering and clearly uncomfortable) Fearing that he may have his other ear also packed, I checked and unfortunately I found yet another cotton ball deeply packed in his other ear. Why would these people shove cotton balls so deep into his ears and then leave them there without telling me? They were so deep that they were not visible until through his scratching he was lucky enough to snag a small piece. Fortunately I saw it when I did, and did what was necessary. I will never take my dog back...
