During our recent Halloween evening in West Hollywood, my wife and I discovered The Lucky Tiki. The interior is a feast for the eyes, adorned with bamboo accents, Polynesian carvings, tiki torches, and lush greenery that create an authentic island vibe. The dim lighting and upbeat music contribute to a warm and inviting environment, perfect for both intimate gatherings and lively celebrations. The bar pays homage to tiki culture while incorporating modern touches that appeal to a diverse crowd.
Our experience was elevated by our fantastic waiter, Sean, whose knowledge and enthusiasm for mixology were evident throughout the evening. He guided us through the extensive cocktail menu, offering insightful recommendations based on our preferences. His friendly demeanor and attentive service made us feel truly welcomed and added a personal touch to our visit.
The Lucky Tiki is renowned for its inventive and artfully crafted cocktails, and we were eager to indulge in some of their signature creations.
SOME LIKE IT HOT ($20): My wife opted for this intriguing concoction, and it did not disappoint. Billed as “the perfect balance of spicy, smoky, and sweet,” the cocktail features Madre Mezcal, Thai spice, firewater bitters, and passionfruit pearls. The smokiness of the mezcal melded beautifully with the heat from the Thai spices, while the passionfruit pearls added a delightful burst of sweetness and texture. It’s an adventurous drink that’s perfect for those who enjoy a bit of spice.
THE GHOST OF JIM MORRIS MAI TAI ($19): I chose this modern twist on a classic, crafted in honor of Jim Morrison, as the bar occupies his former recording studio. This cocktail blends Coppali Rum with The Lucky Tiki’s proprietary blackberry shrub and is garnished with a burning rosemary sprig as a tribute. The aroma of the rosemary enhanced the rich flavors of the rum and blackberry, creating a multi-sensory experience that was both unique and memorable.
An interesting fact that adds to The Lucky Tiki’s charm is its location in what used to be Jim Morrison’s recording studio. This piece of rock ‘n’ roll history infuses the space with an air of nostalgia and intrigue. The bar honors this legacy not only through themed cocktails like “The Ghost of Mai Tai” but also through subtle decorative elements that pay homage to the legendary frontman of The Doors.
Explore the Menu: The Lucky Tiki offers a diverse selection of cocktails, including both classics and innovative creations. Don’t hesitate to ask the knowledgeable staff for recommendations or try something new.
The Lucky Tiki is a standout destination in West Hollywood’s vibrant nightlife scene. With its captivating atmosphere, exceptional service from staff like Sean, and a menu that delights the senses, it’s a place that offers more than just great drinks—it’s an experience. Whether you’re a local or a visitor seeking a memorable night out, The Lucky Tiki delivers a perfect blend of history, creativity, and hospitality.
We left feeling not only satisfied but eager to return and explore more of what this enchanting bar has to offer. Highly recommended for anyone looking to add a touch of tropical flair to their West...
Read moreTerrible experience today!! We had a 10:30pm reservation and showed up at 10:05pm and said that we were early but were checking in and can leave and come back. She said that our seats just needed to be bussed and that we’re going to get seated soon. There were a lot of parties that had 10:30pm reservations coming just minutes after us and were sat down, even some people with no reservations were sat down before us. At 10:35pm she asked us if we wanted to sit at the bar and I said that after all this time we waited we would rather be sat at the table and she said “well it’s you who came super early” not knowing that the other host told us that we were going to be sat shortly. We were sat outside and the nightmare didn’t end. At around 10:55pm the waitress was skipping us and ignored us flagging her while checking on tables next to us.. (probably annoyed at why we got sat so late) so I go to the host close to 11pm and ask her to send us the waitress. We ordered food and drinks and by the time food came at 11:15pm in small portions I wanted to order more and walked to the waitress after she ignored me flagging her a few times and asked her to order more. She comes later to tell me that the kitchen closed and that I can go to shake shack across the street if I was still hungry. Was it my fault that she purposely ignored me? The last drink that came in was spilled on my leg and she didn’t even hand me a tissue or say anything for spilling it. She later comped that drink but screw that! This was my second time here and the experience was not nearly as good as the first time one. Screw them! I’m cancelling my future reservations to this place. Don’t give these people your time or...
Read moreI wish the anticipation to go to this extremely hyped tiki bar was worth its weight in reservation gold. Hard to believe this place has that many 5 star reviews and that people who want to visit have to wait weeks to get a reservation. The decor of this place really feels like you're in an underground tiki bar and if you're looking for an Instagram worthy restaurant this is it. The music was a bit distracting but not entirely sure if it was Polynesian music or not? The drinks are ordered separate (from the food) and were decent, but nothing special despite their gimmicky attempt at making them LOOK very special. To order food you have to sign up for an app and order and pay within the app via Apple Pay, Google, or PayPal. The appetizer type fast food is prepared by Tail of the Pup in paper trays-the kind you get at a baseball game, but flimsier. Crab wontons were pretty good, but everything else was just ok. I'd pass on the "Lucky Orange Chicken"-sad to say, but I've had better at Panda Express. Super disappointed as this was our one chance to get away to enjoy ourselves in months. We kept a pretty good attitude to start, but as our second round of drinks came and went with the food, we just started feeling like we had been bamboozled. Sorry to say, but if you come here you won't be needing them to tell you your times up (they limit you to 90 min according to Resy), you'll be ready to leave after the...
