Please read below of my review for Costco in 2022 and in 2023, when I first got the membership and after one year going to Costco.
February 2022 Review - My husband and I came to Costco to set up a new membership. We have been going to Sam's Club for years, but realize Costco has better electronic deals and they do same-day grocery delivery to our house via Instacart. We stopped by here a few days ago and Jennifer at membership counter is amazing! She didn't rush us or anything. She took the time to explain the membership plans, took our photos, helped us download the Costco app, and got us a $30 shopping card. We ended up getting the executive membership for $120 for this year, risk free and with more discounts. I purchased an HP computer a few days later from Costco to take advantage of their sale. Their store sells everything that Sam's Club have, and even more. For instance, they sell way more organic products, and they sell nontoxic feminine products and bath products from Honest Company. The only thing I don't like is prices on Instacart are much higher than the prices at the store. But at least you can do Instacart with Costco (we live too far from Sam's club to use instacart) I'm excited to use my Costco membership this year!
February 2023 Review - I got a one-year executive membership with Costco and it is expiring this month. Here's my experience at Costco over the past year.
Pros - they sell a lot of Asian products and Kosher products (for the Jewish community). If you are Asian or Jewish, you would find food products that you would eat here. A lot of ramen, Asian snacks, and even moon cake was sold here.Their electronic deals are very good. Last February I bought the HP Pavilion 14" Touchscreen 2-in-1 Laptop here on a deal of $670. I do like the clothing options at Costco. I have purchased sweat pants, ski pants, and sports bras from there and they fit very well. I got the ski pants for a whopping $10!
Cons - there's a constant issue with their refridgeration of milk and orange juice. Every single time purchased their milk and orange juice, they either spill within a week or they already taste funny upon purchase. I never have that issue at Sam's club. Their fruit aren't consistently good, especially their grapes. Their grapes aren't that good. They do not have many chips options, and they don't sell name brand chips like Lays or Doritos. Sam's Club does sell name brand products.
Overall, I like Costco and I was able to take advantage of their computer deal and clothing deals. I also like that they sell Asian snacks (I'm half Chinese so I buy them when I see them.) However if I am to compare Costco to Sam's Club....Sam's club has more food options, their produce are better, and they don't have a refridgeration problem for their milk and orange juice. If I need Asian snacks I can always go to the Asian store for that. I am not renewing my Costo membership and I'm going back to Sam's...
Read moreI had an unfortunate experience at the Costco store in Homestead, PA, which left me feeling frustrated and discriminated against. On July 8th, I visited the store and encountered an issue with my membership. I wanted to pay for my purchases separately but I was informed by the cashier that I could only pay once for all the items, as it was store policy. I explained that I wanted a separate receipt for three specific electronic items I might need to return, rather than one long receipt for all my purchases (which totaled over 50 items).
Then a lady who said she was the manager came over and told me I couldn't bring guest into the store. I tried to explain that they were my kids and both of them have their own advanced memberships. She insisted that I had to use one of their accounts to make the purchase in order to get a separate receipt. I explained that I pay for the items because my sons had recently bought their memberships, and their Citi-Costco credit cards had not yet been delivered to my home. However, the manager insisted that I had to use one of my son's accounts to make the purchase in order to obtain a separate receipt. I expressed my concern about the inconvenience this would cause for potential returns, as the cashier just said that I would need to accompany my son in person. Unfortunately, the manager stood by her decision, leaving me feeling frustrated and inconvenienced.
When I requested to record our conversation regarding the manager's statement about the police, she disappeared. I was forced to pay the three items using my son's account. Eventually, another person came and identified himself as a manager, approached me and inquired about the situation. I explained the issue once again, and to my surprise, he informed me that it was indeed possible for me to make separate transactions and for my son to handle any returns without my presence!
As a longstanding Costco member of over 20 years, this experience greatly disappointed me. I am left questioning why there seemed to be conflicting policies among the different managers and why I was treated as if I were improperly sharing my membership with others, despite my attempts to explain that my sons have their own advanced memberships. The discrimination I felt during this incident has deeply affected me, as it contradicts the inclusive and customer-focused values I have come to associate...
Read moreWent to Costco in homestead today. I have been a member for years. So i decided to use self checkout . As I am walk up to self checkout there is a white family standing at the first register with a blinking light which means that they needed help at that register. The clerk is looking right at them and never walks over to see what they needed help with. So I walk to register 2 and before I could get my membership card out of my back pocket. The clerk which was also white is right in front of me and starts to scan my items. I tell him that I didnât need his help. And the family behind me has a blinking light on and actually does need his help. That is when he stated that he was there to make sure that I rang all my items up. Then walked away.
I then went to the membership desk to speak about it with membership. And the clerk at the membership desk told me that they are told to do that by the managers. She then asked who the clerk was and as I turned to point him out I could see that he was not doing it to everyone. I then told her that he made it as if I was going to steal something or not ring all of my items up.when the family behind me was waiting for help he was in my personal space when he was not asked to be. If I choose to use self checkout itâs because I do not choose to deal with the rude clerks.oh I was also told by the clerk at members service that cost does real have self checkout. That it is their policy to the their clerk do that. But if that is the case why didnât he help the white family that was at the register before I got to the 2nd register. And then I had to tell the clerk to go help them because the light was blinking and they are asking for help. Yet I did not need or want his help. Mind you I only had 3 items in the cart. The other family had a cart...
