I realize that the culture at Home Depot has changed considerably over the years (if you have shopped there for as long as I have, you may remember that the employees were very helpful and most had backgrounds in home repairs and their products. Not so today as evidenced by the treatment my 91 year old mother is receiving over a recent purchase. Several weeks ago her Maytag dryer bit the dust so she decided to replace both dryer and washer and began her on-line research. After comparing the different manufacturers and their products, she felt that she had enough information to go into a store and purchase. She picked her local home depot (Wilkins Twp, PA) as she has purchased there in the past.
After speaking with the sales person and again comparing for her needs she decided to purchase a Samsung set $1481.91. With the purchase her only requirement was that the door fro the front load dryer had to open a certain direction. She was told that it would be done and was written on the order. In addition she purchased the hose kit for the washers and was told that they would be installed. All of which she was charged for the service.
Delivery day came (10/25) the dryer did not open as was specified on the order and the installers told her that since the product was delivered she would need to call Samsung. They do not do that work. They were also asked to not put the washer on the tray but they did, which will lead us to another problem. My Mom immediately called the store and was told that yes, the order specified the door and the delivery people should have don the change. Three calls and seven days later still no return visit to correct. On Saturday, 11/2 she finally decided to try the washer and my brother-in-law was visiting as the store manager told her to use the washer. Seconds after the washer was turned on, the hoses exploded (installed by delivery people and obviously not checked prior to leaving. There was water everywhere and the brand new washer is sitting in 2 inches of water!!!!!
On his way to the airport my brother-in-law stopped and once again spoke with (the store manager), who was well aware of the issue and stated that someone would be there on Tuesday, 11/5. No one has come and there have been no calls to advise when they will be coming.
At this point we have contacted the credit card company and disputed the charge and I will be advising the store in writing of our action.
Poor, Poor, treatment. I feel that they took advantage of my Mom, due to her age. I was unable to post this review without giving a star rating. Obviously in my mind they...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about the tool rental place . First because the one young guy was so very nice to me with helping to learn the machine I was renting ( mantis tiller ) . He even helped me over the phone when I couldn’t get it to start . He personally gets 5 stars . However the other employees that have serviced me weren’t as pleasant. It seems like they need more staff as they receive more phone calls than they could handle with customers being in front of them . Today I waited in line for 10 minutes while he took and phone call and wrapped up a customer only for him to ask to service the customer behind me because she went out to the car . As a cashier myself if the customer is not back in the store and someone else got in line before their return to get things ( card ) from the car I’m taking the customer in line and that customer who wasn’t prepared would have to wait . But that’s not it . So the machine I rented the first time was faulty . It took more power to use because the handle was broke . I explained this to John when I returned it and he tested it out before he gave it to me and when I returned and offered me a discount . Didn’t ask for one but cool ! Brush guy so rude and then when I call him out on it by asking if nicer guy was here . He told me no longer works there anymore and then he begins to apologize and make excuses for his rudeness . I was simply trying to explain to him that I received a faulty machine and I asked if we could test them first to make sure I don’t get that one again . He gets machine and says “here “ implying I test it myself . I ask is the a reason why he can’t do it for me . He does with a attitude and I just don’t understand why he has to be so rude . Also when I returned the first rental back an off the clock younger worker was there with his girlfriend trying to rent out equipment and he too was just as rude . his name was Jack . He was trying to tell me nothing was wrong with the machine and that that is just the way it works and I told him you’re never supposed to be working harder than the machine . I wasn’t even talking to him to begin with . I’m giving 3 stars only because Bush tried to redeem himself after I told him about how pleasant my experience with John was . Which he informed me was no...
Read moreHorribly rude customer service. I called in asking if they had a particular piece of a sink set, that was missing when I purchased it, and instead of asking for a refund, or anything else, I wanted to buy the missing part myself, I wasn’t even complaining, didn’t even mention the fact that it was missing, just asking if they had that item in stock, because when I went through the automated customer service, it listed that item as available but wasn’t clear if it needed to be ordered or not. When I finally got through to someone they immediately cut me off before I finished and transferred me to a dead end, then it who transferred me to someone else who cut me off, and sent me to someone else who picked up when the hold music stopped and hung up. It took me three calls to finally get a response from someone who made a guess, said they had three kinds of that items, and when I asked if they had the metal version, cut me off and sent me to the same person I talked to previously who finally bothered to look up whether or not they had it, and gave me an attitude the entire time, and didn’t even speak in full sentences, then hung up. I didn’t need or want anyone to Dawn over me or treat me like a queen or anything, just to at...
