TL;DR: Don't miss this great place to get pampered. You gotta get your hair washed at their state-of-the-art shampoo bowls which have hot steam that makes it a sauna for your head, along with plush reclining chairs. Just expect the heat to be intense and ask for a towel to protect your ears. The infrared sauna is also lovely. Combined these services cost $50 plus tip and the employees are very welcoming. No judgment for men who appreciate the experience. Definitely worth going out of the way for.

I visited because I was eager to try out their "Eden by Maletti" shampoo bowls, which seem very rare in the United States (they come from an Italian company). What's unique about them is they have built-in jets that spew hot steam and when it's turned on the stylist puts a specially-designed cover on the sink to trap the steam and create a bubble that is like a sauna for your head. First they wash your hair and apply products, then they leave you for a while with the steam on (which helps your pores take in the substances) before rinsing out the product. It was not quite as soothing as I thought it would be at first, as I underestimated the intensity of the heat (I asked if they knew what the temperature was but they weren't aware, but as a guess maybe 110 degrees or so based on steam rooms), my ears started to burn up but the stylist was receptive and gave me a cloth for protection. Still a great experience, I could really feel the exfoliation after I left. Probably will be more pleasant next time knowing what to expect, and I'd advise everyone who gets it to ask for ear protection in advance. One shortcoming of the Eden is that there isn't really a way to control the temperature. Besides the steam, the shampoo chairs are also very comfortable because they have leg rests and massage features, which is great considering you're sitting there for a long time.
I also tried their infrared sauna, and that was just wonderful. Temperature was perfect and very relaxing, even more than a conventional sauna. They even let you bring your phone inside it if that's how you want to pass the time. You won't want to leave!
And above all, it's not weird at all for men to go. In fact I wasn't the only male customer when I happened to be there! They were all so nice, and there was no judgment of any sorts.
I only wish they were...

I truly cannot say enough good things about both of them, the salon, and my experience. From meeting them at my trial to the day of, they were both so incredibly kind and attentive, plus so much fun to be around. The morning of, all of the hair and makeup stylists from Currie had the best energy and made sure that my bridal party and I felt so beautiful. Allie was so so sweet and executed my last minute decision to change my hairstyle better than I ever could have imagined. Amber is a MAGICIAN, my makeup was so incredibly flawless, lasted all day, and truly made me feel more gorgeous than I've ever felt. All of my bridal party felt the same. The front desk was also so sweet and so helpful managing all of my appointments. If you are having your wedding at the Du Pont, or just in Wilmington, I HIGHLY recommend Currie. Read moreMy mother and I had appointments for blow outs the morning of my sister's wedding . If I could score them lower I would. They completely messed up our appointments, said they had to shut down and so the appointments got wiped and that they couldn't help us . I asked why we never got a call that this happened and they just where confused as we where and didnt have much to say. Something this important shouldnt be mishandled. Especially since we made this appointment months in advanced. They couldn't help us in anyway, couldn't squeeze us in or refer us to any place. We have been completely screwed over. If you have an important event id say ill save you the trouble and say schedule...
