Mimi Teriyaki — Restaurant in Wilmington

First I want to say I am a firm supporter of small business so its with a heavy heart I am giving a bad review. On 03/02/2019 I ordered General TSO Chicken with noodles AND rice. I also ordered the spring rolls (which comes with four) and a can of soda. The food was ordered through DoorDash and the driver picked up the order shortly after I placed it and I had my food soon after that. So there was no delay in delivery. Listen, I have to tell you. I have had General TSO from Chinese places from Chinatown in the big cities, little hole in the wall places, etc. The General TSO from this place tasted bad. It tasted like they used old chicken and the sauce had an old flavor that was neither salty or tangy. Just bland and old tasting. The noodles were bland but ok. The rice was mushy like it was cooked this morning or yesterday and reheated and also had an old taste to it. It was the first time in over 20 years I had to put food aside after eating half of it and say "No more, i'm done". That never happens. Also, the can of soda I got (it was a Brisk Iced Tea actually) had a smell on top of the can like its been stored in a hoarder house and I had to clean it off before drinking it. I have never been to this restaurant and the pictures on google look great so I am scratching my head about the food i received. All I have to say is with all these great reviews are making me scratch my head. I hope the restaurant reads this and makes food more fresh and also changes their recipe. I am trying to help them, not hurt them. I am a consultant in the restaurant industry and my father was also a Chef. Believe me, worst General TSO I have ever tasted. I have been living in Wilmington for the past 6 months and Mimi Teriyaki has been my best option when it comes to price-quality. If you get there Chicken and Beef Teriyaki or Chicken and Shrimp Teriyaki, you will not be disappointed since they always give you enough food for two meals and the chicken has always been tender. Personally, I don't believe this place gets enough business due to its location, but I encourage people to go for lunch during work hours or even dinner for take out. At first, the owner and employees are friendly, but if you become a regular they will recognize you and treat you with kindness along with amazing customer service. This place might not be the fancy spot you are looking to dine-in, but if you are looking for the best local takeout Asian food in Wilmington, Mimi Teriyaki will be your best friend.
