Chasin' Axe (Winchester) — Local services in Winchester

I hate to write a review like this for a local business, I really was looking forward to having a local place to throw Axes. The layout is subpar, has a feeling of just utilizing space. The throwing lanes are across the width of the building and really too short. The attention to detail is lacking with no throwing line to help with consistency, the axes weren't effective, and the one lane was so worn out it was hard to see the center of the target. What really ruined the night was the hostess/coach was not hospitable, spent virtually the whole time on her phone, she gave a brief 1 minute half hearted intro to throwing then we never heard from her again with advice on throwing, and then no interactions except rude reminders for remaining time. My son and I threw a dart at a dart board while we waited for her to get off her phone so we could start and she rudely yelled at my son for throwing darts (why are they there then?). The time that we spent waiting for her to get us started took away from our throwing time. Just an awful experience to be honest. My family was at an axe throwing business over Thanksgiving and the experience was worlds apart, we easily had 80% or more of the throws stick where it was close to 10% here. That was really disappointing, and as we struggled our hostess just sat on her phone. The owner really needs to decide if they are really dedicated to this or not and make investment in the layout and employees. The trip to NoVa will be worth the drive next time to walk away with good memories. The cost is just too high for a poor experience like this. It is a fun concept, but the the service was TERRIBLE. My book club want for our girls night out 2/25 from 6-8. I don’t remember our coach/server’s name, but he was rude and made no attempt to provide good service. He was more interested in his phone then finding out why it took me an hour and a half to get my loaded chips. When I asked about it he blamed me and Union Jacks. Went with my family for my sister’s birthday and we LOVED this place!! Really cool vibe, the owner was so nice! We had two young children with us and they gave us coloring books and crayons so the kids had something to do while the adults took turns throwing. The food and drinks were delicious and we had a blast with the axe throwing. The owner showed us how to throw to get us started. Can’t wait...
