Dear store owner in downtown Winchester,
Today we (myself, my sister and my two boys) visited your very quaint and super cute store full of Indian Knick knacks and beautiful items. Initially you were very welcoming to us all. We navigated through your store respectfully, I even reminded my youngest to not pick up delicate items for fear of damaging anything that I would of course pay for if that were to happen. A woman stood behind your register, and you walked throughout the store asking if we needed help with anything. I responded âno thank you we are just lookingâ.
Not too long after we entered your establishment a couple pushing a stroller came in. You spoke to them kindly but proceeded to follow my sons EVERYWHERE throughout the store. Not once following the other couple. You watched their every move and I noticed every single bit of it. My oldest found a beautiful chart of the chakras on the body and was admiring it, and while he, being an artist himself knows better and touched it. You, very rudely said âdonât touch that...â. K backed off and even complimented the piece while apologizing. My sister had enough at this point and to avoid saying anything out loud left your store. I gathered my kids and heard you speaking in your native language loudly to the woman behind the register and proceeded to FOLLOWED US out of your store. You walked down the side walk behind us, my boys joking that you were upset that one had touched the art but I knew why and my heart sank. When you noticed me noticing you, you made an awkward U-turn and walked back towards the store.
Now...you felt comfortable enough to leave the other customers in your establishment while chasing us down the sidewalk for nothing. Sad part is my kids had no idea what was really going on. They are so oblivious to the little things I see when I am with them because they are good, innocent kids who for the most part still believe the world is full of good. You had no idea that my youngest has made honor roll all year, and my oldest made deans list his first year of college. You donât know that they have helped feed the less fortunate, or that they have literally picked up money from the ground and searched high and low to find its rightful owner. You donât know any of that and shame on you for placing them in an ugly box.
I didnât say anything out loud because I want them to believe in the good and more importantly be the good.
Signed, A very...

It is my store to go for to find little things from Nepal,Tibet and India as well as very delicate and expensive Thangkas and Mandalas that people spend months to make it (they are sensitive to touch, smear, folding etc). If you are going with small kids, please be considerate. It is a small store but have so many things in them. The owners are pleasant and welcoming.I wish them...
