This was probably the worst cinema experience of my life. I took my son to see Tom & Jerry with a good friend and her son and we were given such utter disrespect over a slight miscommunication. I would firstly like to point out, if you are uncomfortable in these times being around people, don’t go out to a closed in establishment. When we arrived, I will say that our friend was running late and they kindly were able to swap our seats (which were originally 4 in a row) to the 3:30 start time instead of the 3:00. It was basically a whole lot of the young lady (now knowing her name is Autumn) at the register waiting for it to do it’s thing while I stood there and waited for our tickets. WHICH WAS FINE, we were in no rush. She kindly asked her manager, Traci, for authorization to which Traci waved her off and flat out said no because she had to go run and grab something. Autumn and I exchanged a sort of “yeesh” glance and she proceeded to ask a coworker, Ian, for help. Traci comes back all exasperated and asked her why she did something a certain way, implying that she did something wrong, and I piped up and said that she was told to do so. Traci corrected her tone and moved on. Everything was settled, she handed us our slips. We get into the theater, get to our row, and there are 4 seats open and then a family in the remaining row. Me and my son take the first two, and we wait for our friends to arrive. They do, all is well, the movie starts, and we flag down one of the nice waitresses to order the kiddos some food. The mother of the family next to us rudely interrupts and says “um excuse me, are you guys taking precautions” to the waitress. She proceeds to say that she purchased those seats specifically to be away from people and “clearly that’s not the case”. Offended, I looked at her and pointed out that she chose to come to a movie theater and if she was asking us to leave. She continued to balk and be rude and I said we could just sit in the two seats behind our sons. The waitress sensed the situation and just said that we shouldn’t do this here and she would figure out the seating situation. She takes our order, leaves. A few minutes later, Autumn comes out and tells my friend and I that these were in fact NOT the seats we purchased, and pointed to the two behind our sons and said she SPECIFICALLY told me when I got here where I was sitting. Let me advise you, she did not specify a thing. To which I said, and she rudely corrected me and said that she, in fact, did. My friend spoke up and said “okay that’s fine but you could try saying it with a little more respect” and Autumn’s response was a salty “Ok”. Dumbfounded and slightly taken aback, we move seats while our kids are innocently and ignorantly enjoying the movie. My friend decides that it wasn’t okay about how all of that transpired and left to go speak with a manager. You guessed it, our perky and delightful friend from the beginning, Traci. At this point I’m only relaying what my friend told me and showed me (the conversation was recorded) and it was basically Traci spouting her same Traci attitude and saying that I was specifically told where to sit and showed my friend the camera “that has sound” to prove that it was said. Low and behold, the footage doesn’t actually have any sound. My friend was very polite and respectful while confronting Traci and was told she was causing a scene. After she returned I went to use the restroom (of which clearly no single toilet in there has seen a scrub brush) and as I exit to go back into the theater, our waitress who was actually kind in the moment and apologized to us about the situation IN the theater, was proceeding to speak distastefully about the situation, my friend, and myself. This establishment is poorly managed and poorly staffed. I understand these times are tough and people are stressed, but that gives no right to be so rude and disrespectful to those who choose to come out and pay for entertainment at an establishment that very well might follow in...
Read moreI attended a 12:30 show of Ant Man today, 2/25/2023. I noticed right away how clean the theater was and we were seated in a theater with the new chairs which are really nice!
We ordered our food and the movie started. Unfortunately, something was wrong with the projector and the movie kept "skipping" for lack of a better word. Eventually the screen went black. The waitstaff immediately informed everyone that free passes would be given to replace today's showing. Another person came in and announced that they had made a phone call to try and resolve the issue.
They said if people wanted to leave they could have a to go box. Many people did take their pass, box up their food, and leave. I appreciated the general positivity of the patrons. Obviously we all would have preferred that the movie played as planned. They did a great job of keeping us informed on the situation. There was a younger female waitress who handled a disgruntled customer very well. This woman was requesting that the waitress tell the manager that the whole theater should have gotten their food for free. (Which like...no...) The customer was extremely upset and unkind to the waitress and the waitress was nothing but respectful even when being treated poorly.
After about 10 minutes, management did come back in and tell us that the movie wouldn't be playing soon, but we could continue to wait. The movie eventually restarted from the beginning but seemed to be working fine. About 3-4 minutes in, the same "skipping" happened again and the screen went dark.
At this point we were informed that the movie just wouldn't be able to be shown in that theater. At that point there were probably 10 people left, and smitty's cut our bills in half as an apology. This was unnecessary, as they had already given us free passes and we enjoyed our lunch.
I was overall very impressed about how everyone working at Smitty's today handled the situation. We will...
Read moreI am going to leave 5 stars here based on our usual experience. The food is good and reasonably priced (for the cost of popcorn, soda and candy at any other movie theater, you can actually get a good-sized meal here). The staff are usually stellar. My wife is recovering from cancer, so we don't go out much. And when we do, I want everything to be nice. Of course, some things are out of my control. Our "waitress" on this visit took our order, and the food was out promptly. My wife asked for a separate plate so she could cut her chicken. We waited. And waited. And waited. Ten minutes had gone by. Finally, my wife got up and went into the kitchen and got her own plate. Our waitress was standing there eating. We didn't see her again till the meal was done, when she handed us the bill. Never once asked us how the meal was, never once asking us if we wanted anything else, just tossed the bill on our table, without a word. She came back and took our card without a word. She came back again to give us our receipt without a word, not even looking at us. My wife said "Thank you," as our waitress walked away, to which we got a nasty look tossed over her shoulder. Unfortunately, this one experience has put us off of this place. We won't be back. Like I said, I give five stars because I don't want to bring their rating down based on this one time. Other wait staff are always excellent. You're probably going to have a great experience if you go. But this...
