Let me start by saying that I was formerly an energy drink addict/enthusiast. I didn't enjoy the coffee I had had from several vendors locally, or larger vendors.
Enter Enrique and Model Citizen Coffee! I was tired of spending an exorbitant amount of money on energy drinks (and somewhat concerned with what they were doing to my overall health), but still wanted a morning pick me up. Enrique offered to let me try several of his blends, and explained what the flavoring on them was (the most I used to understand of coffee flavoring was: Blonde, Medium and Dark Roast - and I couldn't give much of an explanation of those). Not only did Enrique educate me on those, BUT he offered to let me try some of his sweeter beans, and I love them!
Even if you don't LOVE coffee, it's worth getting to appreciate Enrique's love of it, and maybe you can help support a local business, and get some excellent coffee out of the deal as well. Looking forward to taking advantage of the coffee tastings...
Read moreModel Citizen Coffee is a gem. Enrique is a perfectionist roaster who masterfully marries deep scientific knowledge with an artistâs intuition. He sources beans through long-standing, trusted relationships around the world and roasts them to showcase their natural characterânever the burnt, bitter coffee you find too often elsewhere. What I especially appreciate is the way he pays attention to the nuances of each originâhow a harvest from Ethiopia, Colombia, or Guatemala might differ season to seasonâand roasts with care so that the unique flavors of that country and crop truly shine. The cafĂ© itself reflects the same heart: Tabithaâs design is beautiful and welcoming, and her baking is every bit as thoughtful as Enriqueâs roasting. Together, theyâve created a space built not just for coffee, but for peopleâa place where care, craft, and community...
Read moreWOW! That's the only word I can find to describe my experience this afternoon. If you're a sugary coffee kinda person, this is not your place HOWEVER. . . If you are ready to take your coffee experience to the next level and really appreciate the bean water that goes into your mug this is the best place to stop. The owner brings such a positive attitude to the table, and if you have questions about anything he'd be happy to answer. Now you're probably wondering where the prices sit with all of these amazing qualitys. Let me sum it up: my loose leaf tea (white Berry with butterfly pea), my partners authentic macchiato, a key lime pie cookie, and a mini chocolate cake = $10... I know it looks like a typo but I promise TEN dollars! Go and enjoy this new spot đ
Update: one week later and this is forever...
