I can't imagine what some people are thinking, when they rate a Goodwill store negatively because they had to wait in line. Good will is a charity, their main business is providing services to people with developmental disabilities. The donations you give, and the dollars to spend go to support the day programs, work programs, transportation and other services for the disabled. This is not a "thrift store" that you can decide you hate because they didn't have enough staff one day. Many of their employees have disabilities and depend on Public Transportation for the Disabled, such as Access, Peterman, or Goodwill's own buses. If the reason you go to Goodwill is to get in and out quickly, then perhaps you will indeed be best served by not coming in. While of course Goodwill stores want to provide good service, this is not a for profit company competing with TJMaxx, or Marshall's. I would hope that part of the reason you go to Good will is because of the great programs they provide for the people they serve, and go in knowing that large parts of this operation are handled by the disabled who are able to work in the community because of this store. Do you snarl and the disable bagger at the grocery store because he or she is too slow? It sounds like you would, if you are trash talking Goodwill because you had to...
Read moreI went there on sunday 7/2 & there were 2 very long lines ,then they closed one register because an employee was going home sick..found out that 2 employees called in as well so way under staffed..especially since it was 50% off everything..I had my 4 year old daughter with me so I wasn't gonna wait 30 minutes in line so I came back on Monday & the manager wouldn't give me 50% off the 8 pairs of shorts I found. .& they were having 50% off on Tuesday the fourth as well..so I came back on Tuesday & of coarse could only find half the shorts I had monday..well I after getting shorts I went looking around for more stuff..I left my cart with the 6 pairs of shorts for less than 5 minute's (cause it was busy & didnt want to try & menuver through all other carts) i was checking on something on other side of store & came back & my cart was gone..after looking around I saw some of them put back on racks but couldn't find them all..an employee took my cart to restock but should've waited a little bit to see I'd it was left for just a few minute's, which it was...huge waste of my time 3 days in a row & left with less than satisfactory clothes that I should have been able to get on Monday for half priced..wasn't my fault they were way under staffed on sunday..I'll go to another thrift store for the...
Read moreThey advertise sales like "50% off everything" but for some reason, everything I choose is not included in "everything." They even sometimes say "no exceptions," but it is just another lie. There are exceptions, and many, so don't go there, expecting 50%off everything. Also, they start harrassing everyone to leave over the loudspeaker half hour before close, every five minutes. They lie about the time over the loudspeaker. They want everyone out so they can lock the doors and close several minutes early, extremely rude to accomplish this goal. Prices are high, a travel coffee cup I have only ever seen at the dollar store costs 2 dollars, just one example of many. Finally, like all good will stores, they ruin everything by writing the price in black sharpie directly on the item. They are so worried about losing money from people switching prices, they lose much more by ruining everything by writing on it. Then they lie and say it comes off with alcohol. It doesn't. If you like thrift stores, you can do better and not get abused in...
